Welcome to Flutter By Wednesday #223. This week's challenge is one of my favorites - white on white - and be sure to include a butterfly or a fairy. I love the elegance of all white cards! I started out with die cutting two of the Memory Box butterflies and bodies and glued them together to create a thick die cut. I did the same with the Cheery Lynn Fancy Flourish die cuts but cut off the leaves first. I wanted an embossed background but it couldn't be too busy or the butterfly would be lost so I picked my Sizzix lattice embossing folder and used a Tim Holtz Oval Diffuser on top of my folder so that the middle didn't get embossed. I then adhered the butterfly to the flourish and then glued a few parts of the butterfly and flourish to the card front. The little butterflies are from a Spellbinders Circular Butterfly die that I thought I would use but didn't. I stacked three of them together for dimension. I added a pearl to the butterfly as a little bit of bling.
I can't wait to see what everybody makes this week! Just remember to include that butterfly or fairy on your project and link it directly to the Flutter By Wednesday blog!
Thanks for coming by!
I just love how you did the embossed background, looks like that butterfly is flying right off the card. So elegant!!

ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous butterfly, Harriet, and an awesome card! I always love white on white, too. I really like that the center of your card isn't embossed - very cool. So beautiful!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea to use that diffuser to leave an area that didn't get embossed. It's a beautiful card and I saw it on the FBW site. :)
ReplyDeleteHarriet, this is just so elegant and your background so beautiful with that amazing butterfly.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!! Love the white on white cards too. Your butterfly is so beautiful and great idea to leave off the embossing in-behind so that the true design of the butterfly didn't get lost. Have to get myself one of those diffusers!! Loll xx
