CAS Watercolour Challenge - Snowflake

Welcome to 2017 and a new CAS Watercolour Card Challenge! This month we are focusing on snowflakes!

Here is my card:

The background was created with Gamsai Tambi watercolors, wet on wet technique. I put down one color at a time and dried it with a heat gun before applying the next color.  I cut out the panel with a Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangle die. The snowflake corner is a Memory Box die. The sentiment is from a Wplus9 stamp set.

OCC Background Check - Textured Backgrounds (Day 5)

My other textured backgrounds created with distress inks and embossing paste are dry so here they are:

I blended distress inks on a piece of card stock and then used a Heidi Swapp  circle stencil and covered it with embossing paste and left it to dry.













 For the second background I smooshed distress ink pads onto my craft sheet and then mixed each one with embossing paste.  I put down a strip of Squeezed Lemonade on the left side of the stencil. Then next to that I put down a strip of Mustard Seed mixed paste and then lastly Ripe Persimmon blended embossing paste. I then spread the paste from left to right covering the stencil.  I think it came out really cool!  This is a Memory Box stencil.

Visual Art Journal Days 4 and 5 - Shabbat

Our fourth day was Friday, July 3 and the camp gets ready for Shabbat (Sabbath) which starts at sundown.  We don't have work or classes on Saturday because the Sabbath is a day of rest.  But after services on Saturday morning we had free time so I opened up the art room to those campers that wanted to relax and play.  Their journal prompt for Friday's journaling was to display through watercoloring and journaling how Shabbat makes them feel. Another prompt was what colors represent how they feel about Shabbat or how Shabbat makes them feel.  Below are my journal entries:

The first page was watercoloring with markers directly onto a Penny Black stamp, misted with water and then stamped.  The next page was watercoloring with a stencil - I applied distress inks right onto a stencil, misted it with water and then "stamped" with it onto the page.  The two pages with the Clearly Besotted tulip image was demonstrating watercoloring in the lines and then no line watercoloring.  Lastly I created a background using Color Bursts and Brushos and then stamped the Rubbernecker flowers with Versafine Onyx Black ink and used washi tapes to adhere the panel to the journal page.

MB Butterfly Challenge - Another Gold BF

I created another card with my favorite MB butterfly die set this time using gold for the top layer and PaperTrey Aqua Mist card stock for the body.  I adhered the butterfly to PaperTrey gold patterned paper with foam squares.  This is my 3rd submission to the Memory Box Challenge #1: Butterflies.

Memory Box Butterfly Challenge - Hello Friend

This is my second submission to the Memory Box Challenge #1: Butterflies:

This butterfly from Memory Box is an oldie but goodie!! It is my favorite butterfly die set from Memory Box.  I cut the body out of gorgeous glittery papers from Michaels that my friend Georgia turned me on to!!  I then die cut the top cutout layer from black card stock.

Butterfly Challenge at Memory Box First Submission

I love this Memory Box butterfly die that I just bought when I was with my stamping group in Des Moines a few weeks ago.  I blended distress inks on a white card base and then layered this die cut gold metallic paper on top with foam tape.  I left room for a greeting once I know what I will use this card for.  I think it will make a great 50th Anniversary card.

Love My Poppies!

When I was visiting with my stamping group last week I stamped off many Penny Black images - mostly poppies that I didn't own. This one was colored with Copic markers.

This one was stamped with Versafine Onyx Black onto water color paper.  I used my Koi water color set to paint the poppies.  I used a Memory Box stencil and very lightly stenciled some Baja Breeze circles for the background and then splattered some of the red ink along the flowers.

I left room for sentiments to be added.

I'm Back!!

I've been gone a while. I went on my annual trip to visit my Yahoo stamping group friends.  This was our 9th year meeting in person.  This year I went to Omaha first to visit my friends Sheri and Georgia.  We spent 4 days stamping, eating and laughing! Then the three of us drove to Des Moines, Iowa to meet the rest of the group - there were 7 of us this year.  Here's a picture of us all together:

We played at he Heirlooms Designs store in Valley Junction.  We spent all of Monday and half of Tuesday sharing each other's toys: stamps, die cuts, etc and took a card class.  After our annual good bye lunch at Biaggi's I went to Minneapolis with Lynette.  We stamped for two more days and then I went home. It was a great visit and I was very productive.  I have a lot of cards to share on my blog now.

This card was made with Memory Box dies - I think they were supposed to be tulips but I made them into California poppies by blending Distress Inks on them.  The mats were created with SB dies and I dry embossed the top mat with a Cuttlebug embossing folder.

Live It Up!

I finally got some time to make a card!  This was made for several challenges on SCS and for the AAA Card Challenge - celebrating their 1st birthday:

I used the Sizzix Balloon Side Step Framelit set to make this card.  The bicycle die cut is from Memory Box.  The sentiment is from a Penny Black set.

SYD Online Card Class - Day 2 Homework 2

This card looks much better in real life than it does here:

I watercolored the background with Distress Inks, then sprayed a Hero Arts Gold Shimmer mist over the card when it was dry.  The die cut is Memory Box's Florina Corner. I adhered the die cut with Multi Matte Medium and matted the left and bottom of the panel with black card stock.  That was adhered to a white card.  I embellished with a few micro sized rhinestones.

I used Distress inks and an ink blending tool and blended the inks onto white card stock.  I sprayed a flower petal die cut with water and put it onto the inked panel which removes some of the ink and leaves a "ghost" image. I then cut out a white panel with Simon Says Stamp (SSS) stitched rectangle die and then a circle with a SSS stitched circle die.  After adhering the inked panel onto the card front I adhered the white panel with foam tape over the inked panel.  I then placed the Memory Box die cut flowers over the aperture.  The sentiment is from Reverse Confetti.

I just love the font on the Cas-ual Fridays stamps from the MWAH set which I used here.  I die cut the heart flourish out of the card front and also out of the red glitter paper and inlaid the red glitter die cut using the negative pieces from the white card stock.

I decided to make another card for the Online Card Class using the masking and heat embossing technique because I didn't like how my first one came out.  I used a few different embossing powders and a Hero Arts background stamp.  I also didn't leave a blank space on the card for the sentiment - I just die cut and heat embossed it with gold embossing powder three times and adhered it to the card panel.  I rounded two corners like Jennifer McGuire did with her card.

Snowman and Friend

The SCS CAS challenge today was to create a card with a snowman on it.  This is a one layer card.  I stamped the snowman on the card front and then stamped another image on masking paper and masked it off.  I used masking tape to adhere the Memory Box Birch Trees stencil over the card front. I used an ink blending tool to blend different colors of Distress Inks and then removed the stencil and masks.  The image was colored with Copic markers and I used my clear Wink of Stella on the snowman and the snow on the ground.

A New Die and Using Leftovers

 I had pre-ordered this Memory Box die from their latest release and it arrived today.  I had to take it right out of the envelope and use it.  I first did the white on white card (above).  Then I took some PaperTrey Berry Sorbet card stock that I had left over and used the white die cut with it.  I also looked at some watercolored backgrounds that I have but the die cut got lost with them.  I will probably sponge some distress inks on a card front and try a white die cut and a black die cut with those backgrounds and see how it looks.
Then I took the remaining Berry Sorbet and lined the back of the card front of the birthday card that I cut from a file on my Cameo Silhouette.  This had been sitting around for a while waiting to be made into a card.

Old Cake Whisperer - Female and Male

These cards were created for a few challenges over at SCS.  They both used the CC511 colors Old Olive, Crumb Cake and Whisper White - hence the name of this post.  I thought these colors would be great for either female or male cards.  The first card was also for the FS challenge which was to case a card from Dougnat's (Natalie) gallery.  I cased Natalie's Make Every Day Magical card.  The image is from Unity and the sentiment is from Technique Tuesday.

This next card was created for the QFTD242 challenge which was to case a card from beesmom's (Maura's) gallery.  I cased Maura's Thanks card.  The main image and sentiment are from Hero Arts and the background was created by inking a Memory Box stencil.

Just a Note

Yesterday's SCS HYCCT1413 challenge was called Heart Song.  We were to include hearts, birds, music, etc.  I cut out my Copic colored bird from the Copics class practice sheets and popped it up on the Memory Box music die cut.  The sentiment is from a retired Mark's Finest Paper set.
I will submit this to Virginia's View Challenge - CAS cards.

OCC - Day 13

I learned so much in this Copics class.  Our last day of instruction was yesterday but I am still trying to catch up with all of the lessons.  This card is a case of Jennifer McGuire's card - coloring die cuts with Copic markers.  The main die cut is from Memory Box and the sentiment is from PaperTrey. After coloring the die cuts I used my clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush marker on the butterflies and leaves.
