Spring Card Camp

I am taking the Online Card Class - Spring Card Camp and this is Day 1. Today's lesson was making a faux embossing folder with a stamp image. I chose to use the Hero Arts/GinaK Friendship Blooms stamp set.

This is how the embossing image turned out:

I embossed the image with White embossing powder 10 times. I then ran it through my Big Shot with the sandwich for embossing with dies. I made 2 cards from the embossed / de-bossed images:

I also stamped the image with black ink onto white cardstock so I could do the spotlight technique on the green card base. I used the embossed side up and blended ink over the image before I adhered the spotlight panel.

For this card I blended two colors of ink over the de-bossed side and added an image from STAMPlorations that I stamped and fussy cut out. I added a sentiment strip from Taylored Expressions.

I used my Koi Field Watercolors on Arches water color paper and a #4 brush. I love using the wet on wet technique to let the colors blend together.

Online Card Class - Simply Watercolor - Cards 4 and 5

I am back with another class assignment. I made two versions of a card. The first one was done on Arches watercolor paper using my Kuretake Gamsai Tambi watercolors:

I found it very difficult to do the lettering and was not thrilled with my results. I decided to create another one on smoother watercolor paper. I also decided to use Twinkling H2O's for the background paint so there is a shimmer and shine for more interest:

I still am not happy with the sentiment but it was easier to paint on the smoother paper.

Vellum Overlay

Here is another card I created for my Clear and Sheer class.  This is a case copy of this card by Lai-Yoke.  I left off the sentiment until I decide what I will use this for.

I watercolored the Penny Black flower image on water color paper with my Zig Clean Color Brush pens. The front of the card was created by heat embossing the same image with white embossing powder onto heavy weight vellum.

I am also submitting this card to Simon says Stamp (Anything Goes), House of Cards (Sheer papers), CAS Mix Up (Stamping, Heat Embossing + one other media) and the Penny Black Challenge (Anything Goes).

Sending You Sunshine

Life has gotten in the way of cardmaking for the last few months. I don't put personal things on my blog so I will leave it at that. I will say things are getting back to normal.

I signed up for the new Online Card Class - Clear and Sheer. I finally had some time to make a card and of course I started with the most difficult one first. It is a called a Magic Slider Card.

The image is by Paper Smooches and the sentiment is from a PaperTrey set. The image was colored with Copic markers.

Expressive Florals and Leaves

This is my attempt at expressive florals and leaves from the Online Card Class - Intermediate Watercoloring. I have trouble getting my stems thin enough. This is the first time I used watercolor paint in tubes.

More Negative Painting

I spent most of the afternoon trying this negative painting with something other than leaves. I finally settled on the butterfly from Technique Tuesday. I don't think I've ever used this color combination before but I like it!

Negative Watercoloring

This was my third attempt at the negative watercoloring that Dawn was teaching us in yesterday's class. I was afraid to put on a sentiment and cover any of this up. I like how this one came out but still need to practice for sure!! The leaves (I hope you can see them!) are from WPlus 9 and I used my Koi watercolors.

Little Flowers Notecard

This is another card that I created for homework for the Online Card Class - Intermediate Watercoloring.  These flowers were created using a round paint brush and watercolor paints. I like how the petals came out but not the stems. I used the tip of the brush to make the black dots to break up the design and then mounted the panel on some striped patterned paper.

OCC Background Check - Textured Backgrounds (Day 5)

My other textured backgrounds created with distress inks and embossing paste are dry so here they are:

I blended distress inks on a piece of card stock and then used a Heidi Swapp  circle stencil and covered it with embossing paste and left it to dry.













 For the second background I smooshed distress ink pads onto my craft sheet and then mixed each one with embossing paste.  I put down a strip of Squeezed Lemonade on the left side of the stencil. Then next to that I put down a strip of Mustard Seed mixed paste and then lastly Ripe Persimmon blended embossing paste. I then spread the paste from left to right covering the stencil.  I think it came out really cool!  This is a Memory Box stencil.

OCC - Background Check - Day 5 More Backgrounds!!

I am catching up with my homework.  Here are two backgrounds I created from Day 5.  The other two that I created are still drying so I will show them in a separate post.

I love this "shabby chic" or Victorian looking background:

I used distress inks and a mini dauber to color the dry embossed background.  The embossing folder is an Anna Griffin by Cuttlebug.

This next background was created with a Sizzix embossing folder and then blended distress inks:

Using a Background for my Hero Arts Wildflowers

This is a card that I made just because - but I did use one of the backgrounds that I created for the OCC Background Check class.  The stamp is a Hero Arts stamp and I colored it with Distress Markers and then misted it with water before I stamped it onto water color paper..  The background was one that I blended distress inks onto and then used a baby wipe over  open parts of a stencil to remove some of the ink.
