Sketch Challenge #9 and NBUS Friends Challenge

I just got back from visiting my stamping friends in Iowa.  This was our 8th year that we have met to stamp, shop, eat and laugh.  We share stamps, dies, stencils, etc and share different techniques with each other.  I wanted to post two cards that I made using my friends' stuff so I could submit them to Lesley's Sketch Challenge #9:

The large butterfly is from Memory Box.  I used glittery paper from Michaels for the background of the butterfly.  The background panel was made by blending Distress Inks on a white piece of cardstock and then misting a butterfly stencil with water and laying it onto the Distress inks.

For the NBUS / Friends challenge I used the same technique for the background - blended Distress Inks and a misted stencil laid on top.  I used a MB wreath die and cut it out from green cardstock and also cut it out of white cardstock and replaced the green die cut in the white card stock after embossing the white cardstock with an embossing folder.  I used a SU! image for the inside of the wreath.  The entire top panel was adhered with foam squares.

I will post more from my fun time with my stamping friends soon.  I just wanted to get these two cards posted so I can enter the challenges in time.

SSS218 & 2nd Gen Spritzing

This is the result of the Distress markers directly colored onto a rubber stamp and spritzed again with water after stamping it once.  No added ink is used.  Scroll down to my last post to see the 1st generation stamping/spritzing.  I actually like the colors better in the first generation because they are more defined than here.  I used the sketch from Karen Giron - Sweet Sunday Sketch 218:

All paper is from PaperTrey except for the image panel which is the Tim Holtz Distress water color paper.  I used Distress Markers for the watercoloring.

Happy Birthday

I ended up doing LOTS of Sheri Carroll's technique today (from the OCC - Watercoloring) - using markers or Gelatos on directly on stamps and spritzing with water - several generations.  This is the first one that got made into a card and is first generation stamping and spritzing.  My next post will show the second generation of spritzing and stamping - I will be submitting the 2nd one to a challenge.

I used SU! Happy Harmony stamp with several different colors of Distress Markers.  The sentiment is from a PaperTrey set.

White on White Retro Butterfly

I love making white on white cards.  This one was created for the SCS VSN challenge using Retro Sketch 105:

The top panel is the SU! Manhattan embossing folder trimmed down to include only the top portion of the embossing.  I adhered a satin ribbon across that panel and attached the vellum white embossed Hero Arts butterfly.  That panel is attached to the embossed card front with foam tape.  I used a Lifestyle embossing folder for the card front.

Gold Butterflies

I created this for the technique challenge at SCS which was to emboss on vellum - heat or dry embossing.  I stamped the butterflies from Hero Arts with Versamark and heat embossed it with gold embossing powder.  I cut out the large butterfly with the companion Framelit die and hand cut the smaller one.  The top panel was created with the SU Manhattan embossing folder and I cut away the un-embossed parts.  It is adhered to the embossed card front with foam tape.  The butterflies are adhered with Glue Dots.  I got this idea from a card I saw on Pinterest.

The FBW card that didn't make it!

This week's FBW challenge was to use the color brown with your butterfly or fairy.  This was the first card I created for it but I didn't really like it.  I staged it anyway for the challenge blog and after making a second card I forgot to delete it from our staging area so it was published on Danni's FBW blog this week along with my other card.
I saw something like this on Pinterest but the one I saw looked much prettier than this one.  I stamped the SU! Swallowtail Butterfly image with Hero Arts Cuppa Joe shadow ink onto Kraft paper.  The top butterfly was created with two Memory Box dies which I then adhered on top of the stamped image.

HYCCT Make a Wish

Another card for the HYCCT challenge.  I did a watercolor wash with Twinkling H2Os on water color paper before stamping the SU! Swallowtail butterfly, PaperTrey flourish image and sentiment.  Then I cut a piece of the image into a narrow panel and adhered it to the card front.  It's very shimmery though you can't tell from the photo.

HYCCT - Ears To You!

One of the HYCCT challenges was to create a card with an ear or ears.  The ears represent really being listened to...something we all want!  I immediately thought of this cute SU! image and sentiment.  The bunnies were stamped in Pixie Pink and I masked off the sentiment.  Then after I added the MFT grass die cut and mounted the panel I masked off the bunnies and stamped the sentiment in Versafine Onyx Black.

HYCCT - Thanks a Bunch

This HYCCT challenge was to make a tall card.  First thing I thought of was the SU! Pleasant Poppies stamp.  I colored this with Inktense water color pencils and an aquabrush.  The sentiment is from Repeat Impressions.

Dare To Get Dirty Challenges! Water Colored Roses

This is one of my favorite weeks at SCS.  It is Dare to Get Dirty week where the Dirty Girls, past and present, provide challenges every day for a week for the SCS Fan Club members.  This is my first card for the first challenge that was posted.  I hope to be able to complete all 42 challenges by the end of the week!  Wish me luck!
