Hello - Using the Negative

While I was waiting for some liquid mask to dry on another card I made two more cards for day 2 of the Online Card Class - Mask-erade using the positive and negative die cut masks.  This one uses the negative of a Cuttlebug Butterfly die cut.  I used PaperTrey dye inks. The sentiment is from Hero Arts - I masked off with tape the other words of the sentiment so I could just stamp the "hello" part.

I will include my positive die cut card on my next post.

SYD Online Card Class - Day 2 Homework 1

I created this card for day 2 homework:

I used Distress Inks and watercolored a piece of water color paper then cut out leaves from that piece of paper.  The dies are old ones from Cuttlebug.  I die cut the Winnie & Walter Hello from black card stock with Stick It on the back - love that stuff!  The leaves and sentiment are all adhered with foam tape.  I covered the sentiment with Wink of Stella - you have to look closely to see the sparkle!

Mazel Tov!

I made this for a very good friend of mine who just got engaged.  She loves anything purple, irises and music.  The iris and hte matting is purple in real life but it sure doesn't look like that from the photo!

White Out

The SCS CAS challenge this week was to create all white cards.  The top card was embossed with the balloon folder and then I die cut the sentiment three times and stacked them for dimension.
The second card is all one embossing folder.  I just added some clear rhinestones to the butterfly and flowers.
I am submitting this to Virginia's View challenge:

I am submitting the second card to Darnell's NBUS challenge #3 as well as Casology - cue card - NBUS.  I've had the embossing folder forever and this is the first time I used it!

Faux Laser Cut Card

The inspiration site for the SCS Inspiration challenge tonight was the Paper Art & Sculpture Pinterest site.  I was inspired by two pins:  the humming bird and this pin, the 3rd frame down.  This site reminded me of the Faux Laser Cut technique that Jennifer McGuire shared on her blog.  I used a Quickutz Hummingbird die and a Cuttlebug/Anna Griffin flower die to make this card.

I am submitting this card to the following challenges:

Virginia's View Challenge #11 - Clean Slate

The Curtain Call - Winter Wonder
I was inspired by the neutral colors in the photo.

ShowCASe Your Style  - Use at least one die cut

Simon Says Stamp - Anything Goes

Darnell's NBUS challenge #3  - This is the first time I used the hummingbird die.

Our sponsor is:

Please check out what the rest of the design team has created for more inspiration at the ATCAS challenge blog.

I thought this mother penguin with her baby was so cute and represented family.  This image is from Rubber Stampede and I stamped it with Versafine Onyx Black ink.  I used a Cuttlebug frame embossing folder for some texture and definition and then added the gingham bow.

Dry Embossing

The CAS challenge at SCS is to use dry embossing.  The challenge for me is choosing which embossing folder to use!!  The first card uses a Sizzix embossing folder that I've never used before.  I think it is really pretty.  The sentiment is from the old Mark's Finest Papers company.
The second card uses a Cuttlebug frame embossing folder.  I colored the irises stamp with Distress markers, misted it and then stamped onto the paper.  I used an aquabrush to finish water coloring it.

Gold Butterflies

I created this for the technique challenge at SCS which was to emboss on vellum - heat or dry embossing.  I stamped the butterflies from Hero Arts with Versamark and heat embossed it with gold embossing powder.  I cut out the large butterfly with the companion Framelit die and hand cut the smaller one.  The top panel was created with the SU Manhattan embossing folder and I cut away the un-embossed parts.  It is adhered to the embossed card front with foam tape.  The butterflies are adhered with Glue Dots.  I got this idea from a card I saw on Pinterest.
I'm submitting this card to Keep It Simple - Things with Wings.

ATCAS28 - Snowflakes

Welcome to the last ATCAS challenge of 2013!  The hostess for ATCAS28 is Karen and she has chosen the code word: SNOWFLAKES:
Our sponsor for the challenge is StampArt Design:

You can win 5 free digis from our sponsor if you play with us!  Please check out the ATCAS challenge blog for all of the details!

After I cut the snowflake with a Cuttlebug die I heat embossed it by sticking it into the Versamark pad and then heat embossing it with some sparkly embossing powder.  I cut the window of the card front with a Spellbinder square Nestability and then dry embossed the card front with a Cuttlebug embossing folder.  I attached the snowflake with liquid glue and added a pearl to the center.

Happy holidays and thanks for coming by!

We're Back!!! FBW247 - Any Winged Creature

Welcome back to Flutter By Wednesday challenge!!   I am so excited to get back to fluttering!  I hope everyone is ready to start playing with the FBW DT after a month off!  This challenge is one of our favorites - any winged creature.  And our sponsor for this challenge is Inky Impressions.  One lucky player will win a $10 gift certificate to Inky Impressions!

My silhouette image is from Layers Of Color.  After stamping her I cut out part of the wings to let them hang off the card front.  I made this card for FBW, for one of the Dare To Get Dirty challenges at SCS and for this week's CAS challenge at SCS which was to be inspired by the lyrics of a song.  That is why there are shapes of embossed music under the image panel.

Friendship

This was created for one of the DTGD challenges on SCS and using this week's Dynamic Duos challenge colors:

I used the blackboard technique for the sentiment panel and the flowers were created with the Cuttlebug Asterisk dies.

SCS VSN Weekend

This weekend is Virtual Stamp Night (VSN)at SCS.  There are challenges posted every hour starting Friday afternoon through Saturday night.  You need to create your card according to the challenge criteria within 45 minutes.  If I keep then CAS I have a chance to meet the 45 minutes!  Since I had the colors already out while I was making my last card I used them for this card.  For this challenge we were supposed to case a card from luvlee's gallery.  I cased Sending Caring Thoughts.
Since I used the Play Date Cafe colors again I am submitting this to that challenge:

I also used a banner for my image so I am submitting this to the Cas-ual Friday Challenge:

I stamped the Flourishes image on PaperTrey white card stock and watercolored the flowers with SU! Taken With Teal and Marvelous Magenta ink and a water brush.  The card front was embossed with a Cuttlebug Embossing folder so the banner would stand out.

ATCAS #4 Embossing

Well I hope you all enjoyed the holiday break and are ready for a new Addicted to CAS challenge.  For this next two weeks Karen is our hostess and she chose Embossing.  Our sponsor for this challenge is Uniko Studio!

Please let me introduce you to

Uniko Studio is a small company based in the North East of the UK. Uniko Studio specialises in surface pattern design & clear stamps for the hobby market. Uniko Studio will feature high quality photopolymer stamps designed & manufactured here in the UK, and if things go well we will branch out into other crafting supplies.

Beverley has been kind enough to offer a fabulous prize - digis from her store!  Please check the Addicted to CAS blog for all of the details on how to win some digis!

 Now on to my card:

I made a set of these holiday cards to raffle off for my temple's fundraiser.  I thought they were good for any of the winter holidays (Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa...).  I used Nestabilities to cut out the square and then embossed it with the Cuttlebug dove and olive branch embossing folder.   I matted it with shiny gold card stock.  I used an EK Success border punch on the bottom of the front side of the card and used my Scor-pal to score some lines.  I cut a thin strip of the gold cardstock to adhere to the inside of the card front.

I hope this card has inspired you to play along with us at ATCAS! For even more inspiration go to the ATCAS blog to see what the other DT members created!  Then link your design up directly to InLinkz on the ATCAS blog for a chance to win the prize from Uniko Studio!
