CAS Watercolor Card Challenge - Emboss Resist

This is a reminder that there is still lots of time to submit a card to the CAS Watercolour Card Challenge: Resist.  Here is another card I created to inspire you:

First off I want to thank Loll for creating my awesome watermark! Isn't it cute? I just love that kitty!

I started out by masking off a rectangle on some watercolor cardstock and then stamped the Winnie & Walter Background stamp inside the rectangle with Versamark ink and then heat embossed it with white embossing powder. I then used my Gambai Tambi water colors using the wet on wet method, one color at a time, drying it with a heat gun, then adding the next color and so on.

The "happy 2nd" part of the sentiment was created with dies from Winnie & Walter (happy) and PaperTrey (2nd). I stamped the rest of the sentiment with Versafine Onyx Black ink after removing the masking tape.

Dare to Get Dirty at SCS

It's that time of year, my favorite week at Splitcoaststampers (SCS), Dare to Get Dirty. Everyday for a week there are several challenges created by the Dirty Dozen and Alumna for the SCS Fan Club members to play in. There are prizes and lots of fun to be had. Share the Love

I am participating in the Share the Love Challenge Week with Winnie & Walter and Essentials by Ellen. This card is for Day 1 - Florals:

I stamped the Essentials by Ellen Mondo Hydrangea with Versafine Onyx Black onto watercolor paper and water colored the flowers with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers and an aquabrush. I used the companion dies for the flowers and leaves. I also stamped some of the small parts of the flower and die cut those out a well. I adhered the little flowers with glue dots and curled up the petals for extra dimension. I also added some rhinestones to the middle of each flower. The sentiment is from Winnie & Walter - the "happy" is a die cut and the "anniversary" is stamped. I cut out the white panel with SSS Stitched Rectangle die and the purple mat with a die from WPlus9.

This card is a monoprint created from a STAMPlorations stencil. I covered the stencil with different blue distress inks and misted it with water. Then I pressed my watercolor paper down on top of the stencil. After lifting the paper up I let it dry naturally. I love how this came out. I cut out the panel with a Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangle die and then mounted it on the card base. The sentiment is from Winnie and Walter and I used my MISTI so I could get a dark, sharp impression.

Thinking of You

This is another pass at the Negative Space Coloring technique that Jennifer McGuire showed in a video. Last time I masked the image and watercolored the background. This time I stamped the flower with a light color distress ink with my MISTI. I left the stamp on the MISTI and took off the square panel with the inked image and colored around the image with Copic markers. I then placed the colored panel back in my MISTI and stamped the image again with Versamark ink and then embossed it with silver embossing powder.  I also silver embossed the sentiment. Next I embossed a piece of white card stock with a Sizzix embossing folder and then cut out the tag with a Pretty Pink Posh tag die. I adhered the colored panel to the tag with double sided sticky tape and punched a hole in the top with my Cropodile.  This is for the Winnie & Walter Belated 2nd Birthday Bash - anything but a card challenge and for the florals challenge.

Happy Mothers Day

I'm still trying to get to all of the challenges for Winnie & Walter's Belated 2nd Birthday Bash. This card was created for the gold + watercolor challenge and flower challenge and is more my normal style. This was done with a new to me technique called Negative Space Coloring by Jennifer McGuire.  I stamped the flower and stem with Versamark ink onto watercolor paper and embossed with gold embossing powder. I colored in the images with the Molotow masking pen. Once that was dry I watercolored the entire square panel. Once that was dry I removed the mask. I colored the watercolored background with a clear Wink of Stella glitter brush pen.

This is for the Winnie & Walter Belated 2nd Birthday Bash:

I am submitting this to two of the challenges - color challenge to use aqua/turquoise, coral and lime and to the inlaid die cutting challenge.

I tried a new to me technique that Jennifer McGuire was teaching - watercolor lifting. On watercolor paper you lay down dye ink from markers, ink pads, etc (I used distress markers) and then use clean water and a paint brush and move the colors around. Then when the panel is completely dry clear emboss your images - here I used balloons, streamers and stars. After the images are embossed cover the panel again with clean water and lift up the color with a paper towel or baby wipe. The original color is trapped under the embossing and the other color lightens up as you remove it.
For the inlaid die cut I used the W&W party die and cut it out of the water colored panel. Then I cut it again out of turquoise card stock. I put tape on the backside of the water color panel to adhere the turquoise die cut. Remember to keep the inside of the "p" and "y" loops to replace back onto the watercolor panel!!

The second challenge for the Winnie & Walter Belated 2nd Birthday Bash was to create your own background. Another challenge is called "over the edge" so I continued the background pattern so that some of the balloons were off of the edge. All the stamps and the die cut are from Winnie & Walter sets. I used Distress Inks for the stamping and my MISTI to line up the balloons.

This is for the Winnie & Walter Belated 2nd Birthday Bash Challenge: Two Challenge with Shay.
We needed to use the number 2 or two of something on our card. Obviously I used a 2 but I also used two Winnie & Walter stamp sets to make this card. I also used 1 stamp and 1 die (2 different media).
All materials are from Winnie & Walter except for the "2nd" die cuts (those are from PaperTrey).

Another Post! Another Anniversary Card!

I don't really make resolutions for the new year but I have decided that I would try to make multiples of a card - so here is another anniversary card using the same materials but different colors. This time I am using the colors from the Colour Q challenge:

I think I am getting this in just under the wire. I really like these colors together.

This time I embossed the MFT roses background with gold embossing powder and then did a wash with Distress ink, water and a paint brush since I don't have Coastal Cabana. I embossed the "anniversary" on vellum and added the Winnie & Walter Cutaway "happy" die cut over the vellum.

Happy Anniversary

I couldn't wait to use this background stamp from My Favorite Things (MFT). I needed an anniversary card so this was a perfect time to use it. I used the colors from the Sunday Stamps Challenge blog:

I heat embossed the roses background with white embossing powder on the smooth side of the Tim Holtz watercolor paper and then painted the roses in with Worn Lipstick and Picked Raspberry Distress markers and a paint brush.  The sentiment is from Winnie & Walter - I used the Cutaway die Happy and then stamped and clear embossed "anniversary".

Shakin' It With Darnell and Kim!

Today I had a lot of fun - I went to breakfast with Darnell and Kim and then went back to Darnell's house to play with Darnell's toys. She showed me how to use the Fuse tool for making shaker cards. I used her kite dies from Paper Smooches to cut out the kite and then I ran the panel through the Big Shot using the Sizzix cloud embossing folder. I used a part of an Avery Elle plastic sleeve to create the shaker pouch. I didn't have time to finish making the shaker at Darnell's but I brought it home and broke out my Fuse tool. I think I put in too many star sequins because they don't really shake but that Fuse tool is really cool for making 4 compartments for the sequins - you can't see the fused line because it is behind the positive parts of the die cut kite. I cut two tails and glued them together for more dimension. The sentiment is from Winnie & Walter. I picked these colors because I made this card for the SCS color challenge today which is silver, gold and black.
I've tried making shaker cards with the foam tape, foam adhesives, etc and really had a lot of problems with that and acetate so I think I will stick with the pouches and Fuse tool.

Happy Birthday

I finally took a few minutes to get a card made this evening! This really did just take a few minutes. I was inspired by a couple of challenges: Virginia's View Challenge - Geometric Patterns:

and Pinterest Inspired Challenge:

I used a mini Heidi Swapp triangle stencil and the ink blending tool with some Distress inks similar to the colors in the Pinterest Inspiration piece. The sentiment is from Winnie & Walter. The panel is mounted onto the card base with foam tape.  I used my clear Wink of Stella Glitter brush pen and colored over all of the triangles for a bit of sparkle!

Happy Birthday

I am finally getting to the backgrounds that I created for the Online Card Class - Background Check. This is also a case of a card from the SCS Featured Stamper Challenge.  Click here to see the post with this background.
I really like having a bunch of backgrounds ready to use - it made this card go really quickly! I already had this black Impression Obsession butterfly die cut. I die cut the "happy" with a Winnie & Walter cutaway die and Stick It on the back of some black card stock.  I stamped the "birthday" sentiment from Winnie & Walter with Versafine Onyx Black and my MISTI.

OCC:Background Check - Day 1 Card 2

This is my second card from class.  It uses some techniques that Jennifer demonstrated.

After blending the distress inks I applied a Heidi Swapp stencil that was misted with a mix of water and Perfect Pearls.  After it was dried I heat embossed the sentiment from Winnie & Walter and the hearts from PaperTrey with silver embossing powder.  I love this color combination together.
