CAS Watercolor Card Challenge - Emboss Resist

This is a reminder that there is still lots of time to submit a card to the CAS Watercolour Card Challenge: Resist.  Here is another card I created to inspire you:

First off I want to thank Loll for creating my awesome watermark! Isn't it cute? I just love that kitty!

I started out by masking off a rectangle on some watercolor cardstock and then stamped the Winnie & Walter Background stamp inside the rectangle with Versamark ink and then heat embossed it with white embossing powder. I then used my Gambai Tambi water colors using the wet on wet method, one color at a time, drying it with a heat gun, then adding the next color and so on.

The "happy 2nd" part of the sentiment was created with dies from Winnie & Walter (happy) and PaperTrey (2nd). I stamped the rest of the sentiment with Versafine Onyx Black ink after removing the masking tape.

I hope you will find some time in this busy season to play with us. Happy holidays to everyone!

CAS Watercolour Card Challenge - December

Welcome to a new month of CAS Watercolour Card Challenges. This month we are focusing on Watercolour Resist.

Here is my sample - working on those holiday cards:

I embossed the poinsettia image with gold embossing powder and then painted over the flower with my Gansai Tombi watercolors. I cut out the tag with my Pretty Pink Posh tag die and then stamped the sentiment from WPlus9 in green ink. I decided to emboss the card base with an embossing folder for some added texture but keeping all that lovely white space!

I hope you will join us this month!  Thanks for coming by!

Happy 2nd Anniversary Winnie & Walter!

This is for the Winnie & Walter Belated 2nd Birthday Bash Challenge: Two Challenge with Shay.
We needed to use the number 2 or two of something on our card. Obviously I used a 2 but I also used two Winnie & Walter stamp sets to make this card. I also used 1 stamp and 1 die (2 different media).
All materials are from Winnie & Walter except for the "2nd" die cuts (those are from PaperTrey).

I am also submitting this to Kathy's 30 day coloring challenge:

Celebrate

This was homework from the Online Card Class - Intermediate Watercoloring. Of course this was a case of Laura Bassen's card!  This was a lot of fun to make.

OCC Background Check - Day 2 2nd Post

These last two backgrounds for today's lesson are examples of emboss resist with layers of inking.

This first one is really outside the box for me - I'm not sure I like it very much.  I clear embossed a Hero Arts background stamp on top of the patterned paper.  I then rubbed direct to paper black ink and then cleaned off the embossed part with a baby wipe.

This background was inked twice.  I started with a white piece of card stock and blended a distress ink in an ombre fashion.  Then I clear heat embossed the Hero Arts background stamp and reinked the the entire panel with the same ink.  I then applied a darker blue distress ink to the bottom to enhance the ombre look.

Visual Art Journal Days 2 and 3

On day two we did the emboss resist technique with a water colored background.   Here I used Twinkling H2O's again.  The embossed feathers are from Hero Arts.

Below are pages from day 3:

This is a freehand leaf painted with distress markers and a paint brush.  I was illustrating that journaling can be done in different ways - not just writing straight across the page.  Here I journaled along the edge of the leaf.

L'dor v'dor - Hebrew for "from generation to generation".
I used Color Burst water color pigment powder and placed some powders in a palette and mixed in a little water - a little powder goes a long way!  I painted the colors onto this Penny Black iris with a brush, spritzed with more water and stamped.  I then spritzed again and stamped and did that a few times - generation stamping.

Distressed Snowflakes

I wanted to get this card into Virginia's View Challenge before it closed.  I also wanted to enter this into the CASology challenge - cue word is SNOW.

I clear embossed this snowflake flourish by Sweet 'N Sassy Stamps and then blended a few colors of Distress Inks with an ink blending tool.  This is one of my favorite techniques.

Peace

I created this card for the Colour Me Playful Challenge and the SCS CAS challenge - Lovely as a Tree.

This is a one layer emboss resist card.  I masked off the top and bottom of the card front with Post-It notes.  I then stamped the tree and "snowflakes" with Versamark and heat embossed them with white embossing powder.  I then used an ink blending tool and blended the different color Distress Inks.  I removed the masks and stamped the sentiment with Versafine Onyx Black.

Happy Holidays

I finally got some time to make a card!  This is for two SCS challenges - CAS300 to use wildlife on your card and for TLC509 - layered die cuts.  This is a case of Maureen Merritt's card.  I have had this stamp set from WPlus9 for a while and couldn't wait to get some time to use it to case Maureen's card!  I cut the deer three times and layered the die cuts.

Warm Winter Wishes and CFC119

I created this card for Cas-ual Fridays Challenge 119 - Embossing, using this week's SCS color challenge - to use 4 different shades of blues and gray.  I stamped the snowflake flourish from Sweet 'N Sassy with Versamark ink and then heat embossed it with white detailed embossing powder.  I then brayered on several different blue inks and wiped the ink off of the embossing with a paper towel.  I added rhinestones to sparkle up the snowflakes even more.  The sentiment from PaperTrey was stamped in Memento Gray Flannel.

HYCCT - Wish Big and Send Flowers!

This was created for the HYCCT challenge to send flowers to a cancer patient.  I used the SCS sketch for this week.  There were so many layers to the sketch for this CAS stamper that I decided to make them all white which would make the focal panel pop.  I did an emboss resist with the flowers and sponged the panel with Distress Inks.  The white panels were all embossed with butterfly embossing folders.

HYCCT - Pinterest Inspiration and Punch It Out

This card was inspired by a Pinterest photo of a yummy ombre cake.  It was also inspired by the MUSE challenge - I was inspired by the slanted panel.  I first stamped the Unity flowers with Versamark ink and embossed it with white embossing powder.  Then I sponged various hues of pink for the ombre effect.  Lastly I used a dark pink ink on the script background stamp and stamped over the whole panel.  I then wiped off any ink from the white flowers.

This card was made for the HYCCT challenge to use punches or dies.  I combined this challenge with the SCS F4A189 which was to use texture on your card and fall colors. This layout is from this week's CAS(E) This Sketch. I used felt in fall colors and die cut it with a leaf die from Sweet 'N Sassy stamps.
The sentiment is from Amuse Studio.
