CAS Watercolor Card Challenge - November - TEXT

I am so excited to be a part of the team for the monthly CAS Watercolor Card Challenge. To see who else is on the team along with the creators of the challenge, Loll and Bonnie, click here.

The theme for this month's challenge is TEXT. So keep your card CAS, use text (other than a sentiment) and watercolor!  Here is my sample:

The image is all one stamp by Sweet 'N Sassy. I stamped it several times so I could get a good impression with my MISTI on 140 lb. watercolor paper with Versafine Onyx Black. I then masked off the sides of the image and proceeded to do a wet on wet watercolor using my Kuretake Gansai Tambi water colors. Once it was dry I removed the masking tape, painted the roses at the bottom and then applied a red rhinestone for her earring.

Wish You Were Here

I created this little scene using the Sweet Sunday Sketch 279 for the Less Is More challenge which is to use snippets.
I stamped the Sweet 'N Sassy scene image onto white card stock.  I then stamped it again onto snippets of Penny Black and Prima patterned papers and paper pieced the sand, ocean and umbrella. I water colored the sky with a water color pencil and then cut the scene out with a Spellbinders Circle Nestability die. The sentiment banner was cut from another snippet of patterned paper and a Paper Smooches Double Ended Banner die.

The Challenge

I am submitting this card to The Challenge:

I used my MISTI to stamp the silhouette image - it really helped me to get a good image.  I die cut an umbrella with my Memory Box die out of red card stock and popped it over the stamped image.  The Eiffel Tower and the silhouette image are from Sweet 'N Sassy Stamps.

Distressed Snowflakes

I wanted to get this card into Virginia's View Challenge before it closed.  I also wanted to enter this into the CASology challenge - cue word is SNOW.

I clear embossed this snowflake flourish by Sweet 'N Sassy Stamps and then blended a few colors of Distress Inks with an ink blending tool.  This is one of my favorite techniques.

More Copic Coloring

I'm still practicing with my Copic markers.  This card is a result of several challenges over at SCS - The HYCCT1404 - cannot use tape or other adhesive to hold the elements together on a card - I used brads;  CAS294 is to paper pierce and this is a case of the FS401 stamper - angiestamps.

The image is from Taylored Expressions and was colored with Copic markers.  I paper pierced the waves (along the top and underneath).  The banner die is from Sweet 'N Sassy.  I colored the waves and the hearts with my clear Wink of Stella pen.

I had a hard time thinking of what to create for Luxury so I Googled images and came up with this image which screams luxury to me:  

BeachFit: Thailand's Luxury Lifestyle Retreat

To me being able to live by or spend time on the beach is pure luxury!!

I will admit that the card I posted here is from a while ago- by the time I had an idea of what to do I was pretty much out of time.  I have been really busy moving my mom and her partner from Southern California to an assisted living apartment up here in Northern California by me.  This all happened in the last three weeks and they will be here on Monday!  

The stamp set I used is from Sweet 'N Sassy stamps.  I stamped the image onto light blue card stock, paper pieced the chair and umbrella and used kraft card stock for the sand.

Crazy for CAS:  Butterflies

I used dies from Sweet 'N Sassy Stamps to cut the butterflies from the scalloped banner (PaperTrey die).  I then used the same dies to cut the butterflies out of patterned papers which were adhered to another scalloped banner and then adhered to the card front.  The top banner is adhered with foam squares for the dimension.  The butterflies were embellished with pearls.

Still Addicted to Watercoloring!

As my title states I am still addicted to watercoloring.  I really like how this one came out.  This is a flower from Sweet 'N Sassy stamps.  I watercolored it with Distress inks and markers.

Just Because

I haven't had a minute to make cards until tonight.  So this card is for a few challenges:  Retrosketch #111:

and the SCS color challenge - Pumpkin Pie, Real Red and Pacific Point.

I used SU! Pumpkin Pie and Real Red Markers and Memento Bahama Blue marker.  I stamped the flower block with Versafine Onyx Black. I then colored on an acrylic block with a Pumpkin Pie marker, picked up the color with a wet aquabrush and color washed it over the entire flower. Then I picked up real red marker off the block and painted over the Pumpkin Pie in several places. I then painted the background with the Bahama Blue marker ink and aquabrush. 

The colors in my card are similar to Marion's colors, I used a flower and made my card square.

I will be taking the Online Card Class - Watercoloring and our pre-class work is to play around with watercolors - different paints, markers, etc.  I am submitting this to the pre-class gallery.

Today Darnell, Kim and I met at the Paragon Outlets in Livermore.  We shopped and had a little lunch and then shopped some more.   Here we are at the Ghirardelli Outlet.  It was such a fun day!

Happy Birthday

Day 7 of the Online Card Class - CAS 3 - was about coloring.  This card and technique was really easy and fun.  I die cut three butterflies on the card front.  I then scribbled colors with Copic markers on vellum to put behind the card front.  I added the sentiment from paperTrey ink with Versafine Onyx Black and embellished with MME enamel dots.  I covered the back of the card front with computer paper to finish it off cleanly.  The butterfly dies are from Sweet 'N Sassy stamps.

It's also Anita of France's birthday blog hop celebration and my friend Darnell is hosting the hop here.
Anita's birthday was really last month so I'm sure this was quite a surprise for her today!  Happy belated birthday Anita!

Happy Birthday Blake!

Today we are celebrating the first birthday of my friend Barbara's first grand child!  I helped Barbara make some decorations with my Cameo and we also made some appliques for his onsie that he will be wearing today.  I kept some of the fabric and paper scraps to make his birthday card.  I used a picture from the invitation and cut it with a Spellbinders Label die and matted it with the fabric.  The banners were cut with a die from Sweet 'N Sassy stamps and the sentiment, sentiment banner, letters and number "1" were all created with PaperTrey products.

Warm Winter Wishes and CFC119

I created this card for Cas-ual Fridays Challenge 119 - Embossing, using this week's SCS color challenge - to use 4 different shades of blues and gray.  I stamped the snowflake flourish from Sweet 'N Sassy with Versamark ink and then heat embossed it with white detailed embossing powder.  I then brayered on several different blue inks and wiped the ink off of the embossing with a paper towel.  I added rhinestones to sparkle up the snowflakes even more.  The sentiment from PaperTrey was stamped in Memento Gray Flannel.

HYCCT - Dear Friend

This card was created for a few challenges - the HYCCT challenge to honor an elder and make it vintage, the SCS CAS challenge to distress or tear paper, and the Featured Stamper at SCS.  This image is from Sweet 'N Sassy stamps and with the exception of the sentiment, it is one image.  The banner is left blank and you can choose a sentiment to stamp in there.  I lightly sponged the three colors and then stamped the image with Versafine Onyx Black.  I trimmed the image with my paper cutter, distressed the edges and then matted it with black card stock.

HYCCT - Pinterest Inspiration and Punch It Out

This card was inspired by a Pinterest photo of a yummy ombre cake.  It was also inspired by the MUSE challenge - I was inspired by the slanted panel.  I first stamped the Unity flowers with Versamark ink and embossed it with white embossing powder.  Then I sponged various hues of pink for the ombre effect.  Lastly I used a dark pink ink on the script background stamp and stamped over the whole panel.  I then wiped off any ink from the white flowers.  

This card was made for the HYCCT challenge to use punches or dies.  I combined this challenge with the SCS F4A189 which was to use texture on your card and fall colors. This layout is from this week's CAS(E) This Sketch. I used felt in fall colors and die cut it with a leaf die from Sweet 'N Sassy stamps.
The sentiment is from Amuse Studio.

HYCCT Rest of Day 1 Challenge Cards

There were three challenges issued on the first day of the month long HYCCT event.  This was the second challenge - to use orange and/or red which represent courage and strength.  I used Mary Jo's Monday Lunchtime Sketch for my layout.  The doily stamp is from Sweet 'N Sassy as is the sentiment. The butterfly is from Memory Box dies.  I put a horizontal strip of masking paper across the card before I stamped the doily so that I could make this with as few layers as possible.  I drew the black lines with a marker before taking the tape off.

The third challenge was to make a relatively flat card.  The butterfly is popped up on a flat card.  The butterfly and dogwood blooms are stamps from the Hero Arts/Sizzix set as is the butterfly framelit die.
The sentiment is from Avocado Arts.

This first card is actually a case of my own card that I made a while ago.  I stamped the flower from PaperTrey's Friends Til The End set in Memento Rich Cocoa and colored it in with Copic markers. The bee is from the PaperTrey set Baby Button Bits.  I used a leaf button for the body and colored the wings with Frosted Lace Stickles.

Just A Note

This is one of the cards I created for the DTGD challenges.  It is one of my favorites.  I used a butterfly from SNSS's Majestic Monarchs and stamped and masked several times. I used Copics to color in the 3 butterflies.
