CAS Watercolor Card Challenge - LOVE

The Snowflake Watercolor Gallery from last month was filled with sparkling beauties! Thanks for playing along with us! Our new CAS Watercolor Card theme for the month of February is LOVE.
Please check out the beautiful cards that the DT have created to inspire you - here.
Here is my sample:

This is a quick and easy card to make since I used the Simon Says Stamp pre-printed card panel. I have the watercolor pack of "love" cards.  I colored the image with my Derwent watercolor pencils and an aquabrush. Before adhering the panel I embossed the card base with a very old Cuttlebug embossing folder.

CAS Watercolour Challenge - Snowflake

Welcome to 2017 and a new CAS Watercolour Card Challenge! This month we are focusing on snowflakes!

Here is my card:

The background was created with Gamsai Tambi watercolors, wet on wet technique. I put down one color at a time and dried it with a heat gun before applying the next color.  I cut out the panel with a Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangle die. The snowflake corner is a Memory Box die. The sentiment is from a Wplus9 stamp set.

I hope you will join us at the CAS Watercolour Card Challenge blog - see you in the gallery!

Color Throwdown #400!

I am delighted to be the guest stamper over at the Color Throwdown blog. It is their 400th challenge too! Check out the challenge HERE.

My card is a case of a card created by Lin at Heart Hugs and Flowers blog.  The flowers and leaves die cuts are from Essentials by Ellen Big Blossoms set. The sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp (SSS) and the patterned paper and colored card stock are from PaperTrey. The enamel dots are from My Minds Eye. The top panel was cut with SSS Stitched Rectangle die.

Thanks to the CTD design team for the guest stamper opportunity!

Share the Love

I am participating in the Share the Love Challenge Week with Winnie & Walter and Essentials by Ellen. This card is for Day 1 - Florals:

I stamped the Essentials by Ellen Mondo Hydrangea with Versafine Onyx Black onto watercolor paper and water colored the flowers with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers and an aquabrush. I used the companion dies for the flowers and leaves. I also stamped some of the small parts of the flower and die cut those out a well. I adhered the little flowers with glue dots and curled up the petals for extra dimension. I also added some rhinestones to the middle of each flower. The sentiment is from Winnie & Walter - the "happy" is a die cut and the "anniversary" is stamped. I cut out the white panel with SSS Stitched Rectangle die and the purple mat with a die from WPlus9.

Being Kind is Classy

I absolutely love this flower by Concord & 9th! When I saw the colors for the Colour Q Challenge I knew exactly which flower I'd use. I stamped the flower with Versamark ink and heat embossed it with gold embossing powder. I then watercolored it with Abandoned Coral distress ink and a paint brush (wet on wet technique). The sentiment is from another Concord & 9th set. I used a strip of DCWV gold foil cardstock for an accent.
I am submitting this to the ATCAS Challenge,  ColourQ Challenge and to Simon Says Stamp.

Vellum Overlay

Here is another card I created for my Clear and Sheer class.  This is a case copy of this card by Lai-Yoke.  I left off the sentiment until I decide what I will use this for.

I watercolored the Penny Black flower image on water color paper with my Zig Clean Color Brush pens. The front of the card was created by heat embossing the same image with white embossing powder onto heavy weight vellum.

I am also submitting this card to Simon says Stamp (Anything Goes), House of Cards (Sheer papers), CAS Mix Up (Stamping, Heat Embossing + one other media) and the Penny Black Challenge (Anything Goes).

Love is in the Air

Here are two more Valentines that I created to send to hospitalized children. This first one was inspired by some challenges on SCS - the inspiration challenge and the Featured Stamper challenge. The elephant is from WPlus9, the heart balloons are from Newton's Nook and the sentiment is from WoodwareUSA. This was water colored with water color pencils and an aquabrush.  I traced a heart die and then stamped little hearts within the heart lines and then drew the strings with a Micron pen and a ruler.

The Hugs and Kisses card is another pre-printed water color panel from the Love Notes collection from Simon Says Stamps.

You're Foxy!

I purchased a package of Suzy's pre-printed Love Notes from Simon Says Stamp to water color and make valentines for hospitalized children. These are really fun to color and make a quick valentine.

I am submitting the first one to the Wednesday Simon Says Stamp challenge - Create with Critters:

Merry Christmas

This card was created for the SCS CAS challenge to use words as focal point and no stamped images and for the Hope You Can Cling To challenge to create a card that does not require extra postage - or a flat card.  The tree and sentiment are both dies and i Cut them out of gold glittery paper and out of PTI Vintage Cream paper. I did the inlay technique by adhering the gold die cuts to the cram card base.
I also will submit this to Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge: CAS Christmas.

Happy Birthday

Here is another birthday card I created with this week's SCS color challenge colors and for Seize the Birthday challenge which is Anything Goes:

I blended the distress inks through the Simon Says Stamp stencil and then adhered the Memory Box die cut on top.  The sentiment is from Winnie & Walter. A few rhinestones were added to finish it off.

Visual Art Journaling - Last Days

The last of my Visual Art Journaling pages:

 Emboss resist with Distress Inks.

Distress inks misted on stamp before stamping.                             The ferns were created by                                                                                                                      blending distress inks through                                                                                                                a stencil. The rain was created by
                                                                                                     using distress ink as watercolor
and painting it with a stencil.

This is one of my favorite pages in the journal.  I cased one of my camper's work.  She took three stencils and layered 3 colors of distress inks which is what I did here.  You can see how these inks can be layered over each other and mot lose their color.

The background on this last page was created with the
Color Burst pigment watercolor powders.  In this example the powder was sprinkled on very lightly and then misted with lots of water.  While it was wet I used the Tim Holtz distress marker tool that when squeezed creates a mist of ink from the marker.  In this case I used that tool and squeezed the air onto the wet color burst to create the various lines (at the top left).  The campers LOVED playing with these powders.

Love You

This is the second card for day 2 of the Online Card Class Mask-erade, using the technique that Jennifer McGuire taught.  This is using the positive die cut "love" for a mask.  It is hard to see in the photo but I adhered a thin black line of card stock down the left side of the card front.

Oh Happy Day!

I finally found some time to play with the second Essentials by Ellen challenge called Pin Sights Challenge:

I really love the gold trend and I had some patterned papers by PaperTrey that were gold and white and I have some washi paper by Life Style Crafts in black and white.  I used the Essentials by Ellen Bold Blooms dies to cut the flower and leaves out of gold glitter paper and then black card stock to give some dimension.  The sentiment was stamped in Versafine Onyx Black and sequins were added for a little embellishment.  The tilted panels were cut with PaperTrey's TippedTops dies.

I am submitting this to Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Anything Goes

I am also submitting this to Darnell's NBUS challenge - The flower and leaf dies have never been used (they're kind of new) and the PaperTrey patterned papers are new.

ATCAS #58 - Distress

Wow we had great entries for our last ATCAS challenge - thanks so much for playing! This challenge is brought to you by our fabulous team leader and owner of the ATCAS challenge, Kylie!  Kylie has chosen the code word: DISTRESS

Our wonderful sponsor for this challenge is Uniko Studio:

Please go to the ATCAS Challenge Blog for information on the prize details and to see all of the inspiration from the design team and our guest designer Ellen.

I used Distress inks and an ink blending tool and blended the inks onto white card stock.  I sprayed a flower petal die cut with water and put it onto the inked panel which removes some of the ink and leaves a "ghost" image. I then cut out a white panel with Simon Says Stamp (SSS) stitched rectangle die and then a circle with a SSS stitched circle die.  After adhering the inked panel onto the card front I adhered the white panel with foam tape over the inked panel.  I then placed the Memory Box die cut flowers over the aperture.  The sentiment is from Reverse Confetti.
