OCC - Background Check - Day 5 More Backgrounds!!
I am catching up with my homework. Here are two backgrounds I created from Day 5. The other two that I created are still drying so I will show them in a separate post.
I love this "shabby chic" or Victorian looking background:
I used distress inks and a mini dauber to color the dry embossed background. The embossing folder is an Anna Griffin by Cuttlebug.
This next background was created with a Sizzix embossing folder and then blended distress inks:

Warmest Wishes
This is for another Winnie & Walter 1st Birthday Bash Challenge: Distress Inks and Patterns. I used the January sketch from Happy Little Stampers:
I will also submit this card to the Friday Mashup Up:
Create a project with a "Winter theme".
Create a project with "Snowflakes".
or Mash it Up! and create a "Winter project with Snowflakes".
To create the "snowflake" I used the 2nd to the smallest solid row of chevrons image from Scenery: V for CheVron and stamped it using four different colors of Distress Inks. The sentiment banner is from The Big, The Bold and Extras and the sentiment came from The Big, The Bold and Blessings and The Big, The Bold and Merry. I love how all these sets work with each other! The snowflake and sentiment banner are all one layer and I just trimmed around the banner using the out of the box technique. I used a Sizzix embossing folder on the card front and adhered the stamped panel with foam tape. I embellished with clear sequins.

Just a Note...
I needed to make 60 Thank You notes for the volunteers at my temple. My temple's name is Shir Ami which means "song of the people" so I thought this Sizzix flowery treble clef embossing folder was perfect. The sentiment is from a retired Mark's Finest Paper set and I curved it on the acrylic block before stamping it.
Timing of these is perfect...this week's CASology challenge cue word is Note:

Dry Embossing
The CAS challenge at SCS is to use dry embossing. The challenge for me is choosing which embossing folder to use!! The first card uses a Sizzix embossing folder that I've never used before. I think it is really pretty. The sentiment is from the old Mark's Finest Papers company.
The second card uses a Cuttlebug frame embossing folder. I colored the irises stamp with Distress markers, misted it and then stamped onto the paper. I used an aquabrush to finish water coloring it.

FTL267 Peace on Earth
This is my take on the FTL267 from the Clean and Simple Stamping blog. I haven't participated there for quite a while and I miss playing with Natasha's sketches. I used a new to me Sizzix embossing folder for the background. The wreath is a 3D sticker from Jolee's. I stamped the sentiment from PaperTrey with Pinefeather ink - it is really dark green but looks black here in the photo.

HYCCT Thanks
This card came together from combining a few challenges: HYCCT to use a leaf or leaves, the SCS CAS challenge to case a card from stampingout's (Emily) gallery and a loose interpretation of the Sketch Saturday sketch.
I cased Emily's Woodgrain Songbird card.
I sponged Summer Sunrise, Harvest Gold and Spring Moss inks onto PaperTrey Stampers Select white card stock and then die cut the leaves with WPlus9 dies. The bird is from Memory Box, the clouds are from WPlus9 and the banner is from PaperTrey. I used a Sizzix embossing folder for the blue panel.

HYCCT Rest of Day 1 Challenge Cards
There were three challenges issued on the first day of the month long HYCCT event. This was the second challenge - to use orange and/or red which represent courage and strength. I used Mary Jo's Monday Lunchtime Sketch for my layout. The doily stamp is from Sweet 'N Sassy as is the sentiment. The butterfly is from Memory Box dies. I put a horizontal strip of masking paper across the card before I stamped the doily so that I could make this with as few layers as possible. I drew the black lines with a marker before taking the tape off.
The third challenge was to make a relatively flat card. The butterfly is popped up on a flat card. The butterfly and dogwood blooms are stamps from the Hero Arts/Sizzix set as is the butterfly framelit die.
The sentiment is from Avocado Arts.

FBW252 - Autumn Colors
Welcome to FBW252 - Autumn Colors. I love the Fall with all of the gorgeous colors, crisp blue skies and cool air! I colored the dogwood blossoms with Memento markers and stamped them onto white card stock. The butterfly was inked with a fall color spectrum Kalaidacolor pad and cut out with the companion Sizzix framelit. I then popped up the butterfly on a foam square.
So now it's your turn to create a project with autumn colors and don't forget to use a butterfly or fairy! Then go to the Flutter By Wednesday challenge blog and upload your creation. Don't forget to check out all of the inspiration there from the rest of the DT!

Another Try at PDC and LIM
I wasn't satisfied with my first attempt at the Play Date Cafe and the Less Is More (HEXAGONS) challenges and I saw a card on Pinterest that I wanted to case. I am much happier with this card!
I used my PaperTrey Hexagon die to cut out the black hexagons. I stamped a Hero Arts butterfly onto "nectarine" colored patterned paper with Versafine Onyx Black ink and cut it our with the companion Sizzix die. I embellished with a few pearls. Patterned papers are from MME and the card base is Bazzill textured card stock.

Butterfly with Happy Hexagons
I couldn't come up with a better title! I created this for the SCS color challenge which is to use Lucky LimeAde, Island Indigo and Pool Party. I used Memento inks in place of the SU! colors. The hexagons were stamped with one of the images from PaperTrey's Happy Hexagons set and the butterfly is from Hero Arts and cut with the companion Sizzix die. I watercolored the butterfly with Blue Sky ink and an aquabrush. Finished the card with some rhinestones.

ATCAS #12 RAINBOW
Welcome to ATCAS challenge #12. Christine is hosting this challenge and she has selected the code word RAINBOW.
Our sponsor for this challenge is Clear Dollar Stamps:
Please go to the ATCAS challenge blog to check out the prize our sponsor is offering and while you are there please check out the rules of the challenge and our DT's awesome samples!
Now, on to my card. I already had some shapes cut out to use for reverse masking. I used a blending tool and various inks for the shapes. I made the rainbow and clouds by using a Sizzix Hello Kitty die. The twine I used to adhere to the die cut is from the Twinery and the rainbow and clouds are attached with foam squares. The sentiment is from PaperTrey.

Coral Butterflies
I created this card for the Dynamic Duo and the Paper Players 143: Anna's Sketch challenges:
The papers are from PaperTrey and SEI. The butterflies are Hero Arts images and they were stamped with Cameo Coral ink and cut out with matching Sizzix dies. I added coral rhinestones and embossed across the middle of the card front with a Sizzix border embossing folder. I also scored a line on each side of the border.

FBW#223 - White on White
Welcome to Flutter By Wednesday #223. This week's challenge is one of my favorites - white on white - and be sure to include a butterfly or a fairy. I love the elegance of all white cards! I started out with die cutting two of the Memory Box butterflies and bodies and glued them together to create a thick die cut. I did the same with the Cheery Lynn Fancy Flourish die cuts but cut off the leaves first. I wanted an embossed background but it couldn't be too busy or the butterfly would be lost so I picked my Sizzix lattice embossing folder and used a Tim Holtz Oval Diffuser on top of my folder so that the middle didn't get embossed. I then adhered the butterfly to the flourish and then glued a few parts of the butterfly and flourish to the card front. The little butterflies are from a Spellbinders Circular Butterfly die that I thought I would use but didn't. I stacked three of them together for dimension. I added a pearl to the butterfly as a little bit of bling.
I can't wait to see what everybody makes this week! Just remember to include that butterfly or fairy on your project and link it directly to the Flutter By Wednesday blog!

Tuscan Villa Scene
When I saw the sketch on SCS this week I immediately thought of this image from Stampendous. I stamped it with Memento ink and colored it with Copic markers. I used a long rectangle nestability to cut it out. I used two Sizzix embossing folders for the two back panels and matted them with blue card stock.

SCS CAS, TLC and Runway Inspired Challenges
This card came together as a result of several challenges and the CAS Online Cardmaking CLass. The layout is from the CAS153 challenge - color blocking sketch, the technique lovers challenge TLC360 was to use twine and the Runway Inspiration challenge (RIC#4) is to use this picture for inspiration:
I used some Nestabilities to cut out the shapes to create my mask for reverse masking. I used a few different blue inks and a blending tool and colored in each shape. The rainbow and cloud die is a Sizzix Hello Kitty die. I used The Twinery Twine to create the rainbow. The sentiment is from paperTrey Ink.
I am also submitting this to the Moxie Fab World Cool Tools: The Die Cutting Challenge

Flutter By Wednesday #180 - Open Challenge
Welcome to Flutter By Wednesday! This week we have an open challenge - so anything goes as long as you include a butterfly, fairy or an angel! Also, this week we welcome Amanda to the Flutter By team! Check out Amanda's blog - you won't be disappointed. AND we have an awesome guest designer this week - Jessica Deidrich of the Whimsical Butterfly! When you complete your new project with a butterfly, fairy or an angel, link it directly to InLinkz on the Flutter By Wednesday blog.
Now on to my cards - I got some new toys yesterday and had to try them out right away. These cards were made with a Hero Arts A2 sized collage image and then dry embossed with a companion Sizzix embossing folder. I used All Night Media fall variegated dye ink over the entire image and stamped it onto white card stock. Then I lined it up in the embossing folder and ran it through my Big Shot. The large butterfly, Friend sentiment and the flowers are embossed - it is hard to see the raised areas in the photo. I then mounted it onto blue cardstock.
The next card I made is a one layer card. I stamped the image with Memento ink directly onto the card front and colored in the butterfly and flowers with Copic markers. After I colored the image I ran it through with the companion embossing folder.
These were really quick cards to make and fun too!
