Happy Mothers Day

I'm still trying to get to all of the challenges for Winnie & Walter's Belated 2nd Birthday Bash. This card was created for the gold + watercolor challenge and flower challenge and is more my normal style. This was done with a new to me technique called Negative Space Coloring by Jennifer McGuire.  I stamped the flower and stem with Versamark ink onto watercolor paper and embossed with gold embossing powder. I colored in the images with the Molotow masking pen. Once that was dry I watercolored the entire square panel. Once that was dry I removed the mask. I colored the watercolored background with a clear Wink of Stella glitter brush pen.
All images are from Winnie & Walter as well as the sentiment.

Happy Birthday

This card was created for the Day 1 Design Team Favorites. This is a case of Maureen Plut's card - I love her use of this stamp and die set. I chose to use Kay Miller's favorite color combination:

I used the PaperTrey Big Happy stamp set - both the dies and the stamps. I watercolored the background lightly using simply chartreuse and lovely lady. The flowers and leaves were stamped using Raspberry Fizz, Orange Zest, Summer Sunrise, Simply Chartreuse and Lovely Lady inks. I heat embossed the "birthday" part of the sentiment with white embossing powder. A few sequins finished it off.

I am submitting this to Kathy's 30 day coloring challenge:

This was homework from the Online Card Class - Intermediate Watercoloring. Of course this was a case of Laura Bassen's card!  This was a lot of fun to make.

OCC Background Check - Day 4

These two backgrounds were from 2 of 3 of Kristina's examples today:

I used a border from Lil Inkers to create the background on this card.  I also used distress inks and a blending tool to apply color to the pieces and then adhered them with foam tape.

The next background was created by watercoloring a 4.25 x 5.5 piece of water color card stock.  The top panel was created using various speech bubble dies from PaperTrey and then glued to the water color panel.

One of the next lessons will be to make these into cards.

OCC:Background Check - Day 1 Card 2

This is my second card from class.  It uses some techniques that Jennifer demonstrated.

After blending the distress inks I applied a Heidi Swapp stencil that was misted with a mix of water and Perfect Pearls.  After it was dried I heat embossed the sentiment from Winnie & Walter and the hearts from PaperTrey with silver embossing powder.  I love this color combination together.

Online Card Class: Background Check

I'm taking another Online Card Class this week and the subject is Backgrounds.  Here is the first card I created using techniques from both Jennifer's and Kristina's lessons.

The poppy flower is a stencil from Penny Black. I used Distress inks on the flower.  Then with the stencil in place I overlaid a Heidi Swapp stencil that was misted with water and perfect pearls to remove some of the ink.  Then I watercolored the background with distress inks and lots of water and a paint brush, drying the ink in between layers.

Thanks

I was just playing last night and made this card.  I used a background stamp from Darice and heat embossed it with white embossing powder on water color paper.  Then I water colored it with distress inks smooshed onto an acrylic block.  I had this iris already cut on my desk - love using my "card parts".  The iris die cut is from Penny Black and the Thanks die cut is from Winnie & Walter.

SYD Online Card Class - Day 2 Homework 2

This card looks much better in real life than it does here:

I watercolored the background with Distress Inks, then sprayed a Hero Arts Gold Shimmer mist over the card when it was dry.  The die cut is Memory Box's Florina Corner. I adhered the die cut with Multi Matte Medium and matted the left and bottom of the panel with black card stock.  That was adhered to a white card.  I embellished with a few micro sized rhinestones.

Peace on Earth

This is for the Online Card Class - Holiday Card Workshop, watercoloring.  I used the emboss resist with watercoloring by heat embossing with white embossing powder the dove and the sentiment.  Then I did a wet on wet color wash with my Twinkling H2O's.  The dove image is from Rubber Cafe and the sentiment is from PaperTrey Wet Paint - Holiday set.

Colored Butterfly

The SCS CAS challenge was to color an image.  I watercolored the background with water color paints and then colored in the butterfly with Twinkling H2Os.  The Hero Arts butterfly was cut out with the companion Sizzix die and adhered with foam tape.  I used a Cuttlebug embossing folder for the background and embellished the watercolored panel with some pearls.

SYS2 Day 2

This card was created for Day 2 of the SYS2 class.  The colors are pretty wonky on this photo - the sequins on the butterfly are raspberry but look purple here.  The Distress inks look too reddish - I used Picked Raspberry, Dried marigold and Spun Sugar.  I used a background stamp from Darcie's and embossed it with white embossing powder.  I die cut the PaperTrey butterfly from vellum and adhered it with glue dots.  Then I sprinkled clear sequins from the butterfly to the bottom of the card.

Still on Day 1 of the OCC - SYS2 class.  This was done with an All Night Media reverse background stamp and distress inks.

Happy Birthday Cards

I created these cards for the Online Card Class (OCC) Stretch Your Stamps 2  (SYS2) first day homework.  I have been out of town for a while and haven't stamped for almost a month!  I am trying to catch up with the first week of class.

Watercolored Happy Birthday Card

This is another card that I created to submit to The Cutting Edge Challenge:

This time I cased the top left card:

Instead of the die cut window frame I used the PaperTrey Happy Birthday Panel Die cut and overlaid it on the watercolored background.  The background was created by using distress inks on an acrylic block and misted with water before stamping with the block onto watercolor paper.

ETA: I am entering this card into Teri's Moxie Fab Wonderful Words Challenge.

Two Step Stamping

The SCS CAS challenge this week is to create a card using the 2 step stamping technique.  There are several different ways to do this.  For the card above I used the Rubbernecker stamp set that has a solid stamp and an outline stamp.  I colored the solid stamp with Distress inks and markers, misted it and then stamped onto watercolor paper.  When it was dry I stamped the outline image with Versafine Onyx Black over the solid image.  I then used a paint brush and painted clear water around the image and used watered down watercolors to paint the background.

This next card used a 2 step stamp set from PaperTrey.  The two images are both solid, but one is the outer part of the butterfly and the other image fills in the open areas left by the first image.  I used the colors from the Color Throw Down 295:

I used PaperTrey's Scarlett Jewell, Raspberry Fizz and SU Pretty in Pink inks.  The inside "spots" are colored over with a clear Wink of Stella glitter pen and I adhered pearls for the bodies.

You Brighten My Day

Wow what a great day of watercoloring class today - we have 4 videos and very varied techniques.  I used the technique that Tim Holtz showed us using a stencil and Distress Inks.  This card took less than 10 minutes - easy and fun!  I love the results.  Back to playing now!

Happiness

Okay, this is the last card for today - I am having such fun with this watercoloring class and am learning so many new techniques!  This was a technique that Debby Hughes shared in the class.  I used a background stamp from Local King Stamps with Picked Raspberry Distress Ink and a mister.  I embossed the Hero Arts butterfly with White Detailed Embossing Powder on vellum and used the companion die to cut it out.  The butterfly is adhered with a foam square and embellished with pearls.

I created two more backgrounds with this stamp in different colors of Distress inks and will put together some more cards with them tomorrow.  I will be submitting this to the Moxie Fab World Hip on Handwriting Challenge.

Thankful For you

This was definitely fun but I need lots more practice.  This technique uses liquid masks with watercoloring to create a one layer card.  First I had to drive all over town to find some rubber cement!  Anyway, I stamped the Stampendous butterfly image with Versafine Onyx Black on Tim Holtz Water color paper.  The water colors I used are Peerless Water Colors that I bought about 8 years ago and have only used a few times!
These colors are so intense and beautiful!

Day 2 - Background with Water Color Pencils

I love working with water color pencils but I don't think to use them for backgrounds.  The background here was created with Faber-Castell Water Color Pencils on dry Tim Holtz Water Color Paper, smooth side.  Then I used a wide brush with clean water and just blended the colors.  I really like how this sky came out.  After the panel was thoroughly dried I stamped several silhouette images from Sweet 'N Sassy stamps with Versafine Onyx Black ink.  The panel is mounted on black card stock.

The first picture was taken inside by a window.  Here is another picture taken outside:

Neither really capture the true color of the card in real life!  Thanks for coming by!
