CAS34 - Color Challenge

I can't stop using the FTL61 - it is just so versatile! I made this one using the colors for the SCS CAS challenge this week: green, pink and blue (any shades). I used an image from SU! A Flower for All Seasons and colored the flowers and frog with SU! markers. I used Koh-i-noor colored pencils and baby oil to color the watering can. The patterned paper is PaperTrey's Bitty Dot basics and the sentment is from PaperTrey's Sign language stamp set.

FTL#61 - A Great Sketch!

I really love this sketch that Natasha put together for this week on the Clean and Simple Stamping blog. It is so versatile and quick - I made several cards with it. I used Hampton Arts round images on all of them and PaperTrey stamps for the sentiments. The patterned paper is also PaperTrey - Bitty Box Basics. On the card below the purple ink really does match the paper in real life!

FBW - Crushed Black Razzleberry Flowers!

How do you like that title?? It came from the SCS color challenge this week: crushed curry, rich razzleberry and black. I decided to challenge myself to use those colors on my Flutter by Wednesday card. This week's FBW challenge is to include flowers in our design along with a butterfly or fairy. The flower part isn't too hard but these colors were really challenging! I actually had felt flowers in these colors that I purchased forever ago - so yay - I am using up some of my stash! I ran the card front through the Cuttlebug with the Divine Swirls and Swiss Dots embossing folders. I layered the felt flowers and secured them with brads and then attached them to the card front with mini glue dots. I also happened to have a crocheted butterfly in a Razzleberry color so I added a curry colored brad and attached it with glue dots also. The crocheted butterfly is from Paper Blooms Etsy store.
So I hope you play along with our FBW team! And if you do, please link your card to Mr Linky on Danni's blog. I believe she is giving away blog candy again this week in honor of her birthday this month!

Upsy Daisy Tankgrl!

I made this card for the SCS Featured Stamper (FS) challenge today. The FS is Heather (tankgrl) and she has a terrific gallery. I absolutely loved her card This is the day. I have never seen Upsy Daisy look like this and I just got that stamp set this week. I had to case this card!
It took me quite a while to figure out how Heather might have done this. This is what I did - I used PTI Smokey Shadow ink and stamped on Kraft paper. I then colored over the daisy petals with my white Prismacolor watercolor pencil and aquabrush. I added petals to the stamped image since I think that is what Heather did to accomplish the variation in colors. I used my black watercolor pencil and aquabrush to darken the black areas and create the grey shading. I then sponged the kraft background with PTI Snowy White ink. I really like how this came out. I wanted a simple matting and a little bit of ribbon so the focus would be on the image.

Happy Harvest PTI Swap

I haven't posted for a while because I haven't made a card since the FS challenge this weekend. I just wasn't motivated. But today I finally got the urge to make the set of swap cards I need for a PTI swap that I signed up for months ago. This is a CAS PTI swap and we were supposed to pick one of the Fall to Layouts on the CAS blog. I picked FTL#59. I used the PTI set Vintage Picnic and the patterned paper from PTI Autumn Abundance. The card base is Vintage Cream and is 4.25" square. I paper pieced the picnic basket and colored the pumpkins with Marvy Uchida Twinklettes which are just like Copic Spicas. I used Scarlet Jewel to mat the main image panel.

Red Holiday Wishes

Today's Ways to Use it Challenge (WT235) on SCS was to use the color red. That isn't too much of a challenge for me - I like the color red! I was working on a FTL card for the CAS blog for tomorrow and that sketch led me to this card. I'll post the FTL on here tomorrow. This card is 4.25 square. I used my SU! markers to color the Inkadinkado image from Winter Birds and the sentiment from PaperTrey's Vintage Picnic set. The embossing on the bottom of the panel was done with a new Cuttlebug border embossing folder. The entire panel is attached with dimensionals. I finished the card off with the red Amuse Micro Twinklers.

Butterfly Card Set

I needed to make a couple of sets of cards to raffle off at my temple's annual Labor Day BBQ and Fundraiser. Every year I make a few sets of cards to raffle off and they bring in a lot of money for the temple. I came across this card by Kristie Lee and just loved the layout. So I cased this card for my card set. I used the same layout and stamps, changed the colors and added a button and dew drops or pearls to the butterfly. I cut out the panel that the butterfly is attached to with the Nestabilities and sponged it with Memento Summer Sky ink while it was still in the Nestability. You can't see it in the photos but the Soft Stone layer is stamped with the leaf image from the same set in Versamark. The entire panel is popped up on dimensionals. The set has two of each color.

I made this card late last night for the SCS Featured Stamper (FS) challenge. This week's FS is Lori, LMcAree on SCS. I cased this card from her lovely gallery. I don't think this card needs much explanation other than I stamped three images from the PaperTrey In Bloom set onto textured DCWV card stock and cut them out and layered them with dimensionals.

Happy Birthday Danni!!

Wow I can't believe it is Wednesday already and time for another Flutter By Wednesday challenge! This month is going to be pretty special because Danni of Danni's Dreams is having a special birthday! I am told there will be blog candy and prizes every FBW this month! This week's challenge is to make a birthday card with a butterfly or fairy on the card. I hope you play and if you do, please link your card to Mr Linky on Danni's blog.
I used the PTI Sign Language with SU Real Red ink and Versafine Onyx Black. I used the Bitty Box Basics dp also from PTI and True Black card stock for the fence. Isn't that crocheted butterfly just the cutest?? I got a bag of them from Paper Blooms Etsy store. I added a pearl and pierced a trail to finish it off.
Happy Birthday Danni! I hope it is a great one!
