Color My World

That title of this post is from one of the DTGD challenges - Holly's (Toy) challenge was to use More Mustard, Real Red and Bashful Blue! This card was created out of desperation! I couldn't come up with anything so I resorted to using PTI Polka Dot Basics and coloring in the circles with SU! markers. The sentiment is from PTI's Shapes by Design.
Not much to it - clean and simple and fast!

Flutter By Wednesday

It is Flutter By Wednesday and today's challenge is from Ann - we are not to use any designer/patterned paper with our butterfly or fairy. I made a CAS card for today and I used Dawn McVey's Raspberry Suite Color Challenge #13 for the colors. I stamped the leaves from PaperTrey's Beautiful Blooms set in Spring Moss on PaperTrey Stampers Select card stock. I matted it with Spring Moss paper. I cut the butterflies with my Cuttlebug die and embossing folder set out of Berry Sorbet and Pure Poppy card stock. I used two different embossing folders on the butterflies. I decorated them with some buttons and adhered them to the main panel with dimensionals.
I hope you join us and make a Flutter By card. If you do, please link your card up to Mr Linky on Danni's blog and visit our other team members to see their creations!
Thanks for coming by!

Life

I made this card using the Fall to Layout #52 from the Clean and Simple Stamping blog. This card also includes some Dare to Get Dirty (DTGD) challenges from Splitcoast Stampers (SCS). I used Memento Summer Sky and PaperTrey (PTI) Enchanted Evening inks on the silhouette flowers from PTI's Life stamp set. I matted that panel with PTI's Spring Rain and Enchanted Evening card stock. The sentiment, ribbon and button are all from PTI.
Tomorrow is Flutter By Wednesday - hope to see you then!

Featured Stamper Card

Well I have been busy making cards for all kinds of challenges since last Thursday! Today's card was made for the SCS Featured Stamper (FS) challenge. This week the featured stamper is Versamom. I cased her House Mouse CreamPuff. I changed the landscape, used a different image, cut a decorative border, and scored the background and embossed the sentiment. I colored the image with Koh-i-nor pencils, baby oil and blending stumps. I cut and matted the image with my long oval Nestabilities and mounted it on dimensionals. I had scored the background with my Scor-pal. The border edge was done with a Piercerability from Spellbinders. I used a Cuttlebug border embossing folder for the sentiment and then scored some lines above and below.
I think I will save this one to give to my DH for our anniversary coming up in September!

Wishing You Well

I am enjoying the Dare to Get Dirty (DTGD) challenges on SCS. Today is the last day of challenges and we have until August 1 to upload our creations. I actually started a challenge journal to keep track of them all!
This card was made for several challenges, including a non DTGD challenge - Sharon Johnson's ssnotime97 Fruit of the Vine. The DTGD challenges I included are TruCarma's Good Enough to Eat, Cindy Haffner's sketch, and KristyLee's Clearly Creative.
I used PaperTrey (PTI) Vintage Picnic stamp set and was going for a country picnic type feel so I selected the Memory Box papers. The card base is PTI Lemon Tart. I stamped the basket twice on two different patterned papers and the apples once. I colored the apples with Koh-i-nor pencils and baby oil. I paper pieced the basket. I added Diamond Glaze to the apples to make them shine. After stamping the sentiment I cut and matted the image with my classic and scalloped circle Nestabilities. This was a fun and easy sketch!

Dare to Get Dirty (DTGD)

On SCS today through Saturday the Dirty Dozen and Dirty Dozen Alumni are putting on challenges for the SCS Fan Club Members. This is an annual event that I look forward to. Challenges can be combined so my card today meets three: the sketch, Cut it Out (use punches and or dies) and Flap Your Wings (include anything that has wings).
I used my new PaperTrey In Bloom set for this card. All the papers used are also from PaperTrey. I stamped the flower image three times and cut and layered them using dimensionals. I cut out the leaves and adhered them with dimensionals also. The butterfly was created with the MS punch and decorated with black gems. It is hard to see in this photo but I did some diamond scoring on the black panel with my Scor-Pal. The white circle and the green scalloped mat were cut out with my Nestabilities.

Flutter By Wednesday

Wednesdays are Flutter By Wednesdays on Danni's blog: Danni's Dreams. I have been on Danni's team for about 2 months now and really enjoy making cards for the weekly challenges. Each week we make a card with a butterfly or fairy and then whatever theme is chosen. This week we are to create a scene and cannot use any patterned paper. If you'd like to play along, just post a link to your card on Mr Linky on Danni's blog. We'd love to have you play along with us!

I stamped an image from the SU! set Summer By the Sea in Smokey Shadow ink onto watercolor paper. I used SU! markers and Watercolor pencils and an aquabrush to color the image and scene. I cut out the image and the scalloped mat with my oval Nestabilities. For the background, I stamped the lighthouse and buildings from the GinaK set Guiding Light in Smokey Shadow. I decided not to color them in but colored in the sky and grass. Of course I added a butterfly that I punched from the purple cardstock and vellum cardstock with a MS punch. I used a glue dot to attach the vellum butterfly to the purple one, then added pearls.

Thanks for coming by!

Supplies: Stamps - SU! Summer by the Sea, GinaK Guiding Light; Ink - Smokey Shadow; Paper - Watercolor paper, PTI Plum Pudding, PTI Vellum; Misc - Watercolor pencils, aquabrush, SU! markers, MS punch, Nestabilities, pearls

CAS24 Color Challenge

I was lucky enough to be chosen to make samples for the SCS CAS challenge for the months of June, July and August. This week's challenge is a color challenge: turquoise, yellow and orange. I made these three cards for samples. This first one is actually a combination of last week's CAS challenge, inspiration from art.com, and this week. Here is the art I used for inspiration: KarmaPrint

The next two are using the same stamp from Stampendous. Both images were colored with watercolor pencils and an aquabrush. The image on the turquoise card was covered in Versamark and heat embossed with Iridescent Ice embossing powder. The image was cut out with my long rectangular Nestabilities and then I stamped the sentiment from PaperTrey's Mixed Messages set. The one layer card is done on beautiful Fabriano paper and I added some Amuse Twinklers to the body of the dragonfly and below the image. The wings have Lace stickles.

Supplies: Stamps – Impression Obsession, Stampendous, PaperTrey; Paper – PaperTrey, Bazzil, Fabriano; Ink – Tempting Turquoise, Yoyo Yellow, Only Orange, Versamark, Versafine Onyx Black; Misc – Amuse Twinklers, Scor-pal, Dimensionals, Iridescent Ice embossing powder, Lace Stickles

FS128: Thanks So Much!

I try to do the challenges on SCS on a regular basis. SCS is where I learned most of what I know about stamping, paper crafting, etc. It is an awesome site! This card was created for the Featured Stamper (FS) challenge that is posted every Sunday. This was a new gallery to me today which I really enjoyed - it is fun to find new (to me) stampers. Anyway, this is the card that I cased:
5th Avenue - isn't it beautiful? I kept the basic layout but didn't have the embossing folder or stamp so I used GinaK's Arranged with Love set. After I stamped it in Versafine Onyx Black on to PaperTrey Stampers Select paper, I cut out about 2/3rds of the image and the large rose above the sentiment. I colored the rose with Copic markers and adhered it to the card with dimensionals. The sentiment is from the same set.

My First Post

Welcome to my blog AllyCat Cards. That is also the name of my website that I have reserved to sell my handcrafted cards. There isn't anything there yet. The website and this blog are named after my belated and beloved Calico cat, Ally.

I wasn't going to have a blog. I resisted for over a year. I watched as my BSF Lynette started her blog and still wanted no part of it.
And Vicki, another BSF has a blog. Then just recently another BSF, Sheri, from the same Yahoo group confessed that she had a blog! And for some reason I just felt like putting one together and trying it out. Go figure!

I have been contributing to Natasha Trupp's Clean and Simple Stamping blog and will continue as long as she will have me. I also post my cards to my Splitcoast Stampers (SCS) gallery. So I'm not sure which cards will land up here on my blog!

Well now I need to figure out what card to post for the first post. First impressions are everything you know, so I need to make it a good one! Well I'll be back when I decide . . .
