Spring Card Camp

I am taking the Online Card Class - Spring Card Camp and this is Day 1. Today's lesson was making a faux embossing folder with a stamp image. I chose to use the Hero Arts/GinaK Friendship Blooms stamp set.

This is how the embossing image turned out:

I embossed the image with White embossing powder 10 times. I then ran it through my Big Shot with the sandwich for embossing with dies. I made 2 cards from the embossed / de-bossed images:

I also stamped the image with black ink onto white cardstock so I could do the spotlight technique on the green card base. I used the embossed side up and blended ink over the image before I adhered the spotlight panel.

For this card I blended two colors of ink over the de-bossed side and added an image from STAMPlorations that I stamped and fussy cut out. I added a sentiment strip from Taylored Expressions.

My first holiday card for this year!  I created this for our ATCAS challenge #44 hosted by the fabulous Deepti.  Deepti chose the code word: GOLD.  Wow so many possibilities!

I used the Festive Frames stamp set from GinaK.  I stamped the images with Versamark Ink and heat embossed with gold embossing powder.  Easy!  I added a few pearls to the flower centers.

Dynamic Duos HB Card

I needed a birthday card for a friend and I thought he would appreciate this image and sentiment.  I used the colors for the Dynamic Duos challenge: Bashful Blue and Pumpkin Pie. 

I colored in the hat with the SU! markers and paper pieced the balloons with papers from MME Tangerine.  The owl was colored with Memento markers.

ATCAS#9 SPRING

Welcome to ATCAS #9 which I am the hostess for.  I picked the code word SPRING for this challenge since Spring officially started yesterday!  Here in California our state flower, the Golden Poppy is an early sign that Spring is on its way.  Before I show you my card I would like to introduce our sponsor for this challenge:

I chose to use this Poppy image from Rubbernecker Stamps for my card since these flowers really do announce that Spring is on its way here in Northern California (see photo below).  This is a two step stamp.  I stamped the line art with Versafine Onyx Black.  For the flower part I colored the poppies with three Memento markers directly onto the image and huffed on the stamp before I stamped it, using a Stamp-a-majig.  The sentiment is from a GinaK set called A Year Of Flowers.

Poppies for BeckyTE

This is another card for the SCS color challenge and also for the QFTD115 challenge - to CASE a card from BeckyTE's gallery.  This is a digi image from Wax Fruit Co and is called A Study of Poppies.  It is printed on GinaK Luxury paper and colored with Copic Markers.  This cardstock doesn't let the Copics bleed through so it is perfect for a one layer card.

Flutter By Wednesday #162 - Inspiration Photo

Welcome to Flutter By Wednesday 162.  This week Danni has provided us with a beautiful photo as an inspiration piece:

And this is my take on it:

I used the sunflower image from Gina K's A Year of Flowers set.  I used Memento markers to color directly on the stamp and then misted it before stamping.  I then used the markers and an aquabrush to paing in the flowers and then used a Spica Chocolate Glitter pen to color in the centers.  I punched the butterflies out of PaperTrey Bitty Dots paper to represent those figs and grapes in the picture.

FS Making a Scene

This week's Featured Stamper (FS) on SCS is Mutnik (aka Nutmeg, Cathy, etc).  Cathy has an awesome gallery filled with gorgeous scenes - both stamped and hand drawn.  She uses bright colors and always has a great story to go with her card!  You have to check out her gallery! I chose this card to case: Pals Just Relaxin'.  Of course I used stamps to make my scene - Cathy hand drew the boy and the dog sitting on the fence!!
I used a scene image from Alota Rubberstamps and the children image from GinaK.  I used water color pencils and an Aquabrush to do my coloring and cut out the scene with an oval Nestability and hand cut the children and popped them up with foam squares.  Cathy has a signature "Square Border" in Black and White so I included the border too.

Now on with my cards for today. When I saw this new stamp set by GinaK's daughter, Wishes and Dreams, I knew I had to get it. The images are perfect for FBW's and my daughter loves Anime. She even draws Anime. The stamps came with a free card making kit when purchased at release time. So I made 3 cards. I really love this set and the fairy images!

I used some Copics to color in this first one. I don't have very many so there isn't a lot of shading going on! The kit came with the black, pink and white card stock and the stamp set. I cut the images out with my Blossom nesties and sponged a bit of Pretty in Pink ink around the edges while it was still in the die. I used different embossing folders on the pink backgrounds.

The second and third card were colored with Koh-i-noor colored pencils and baby oil. I used the Copic Spica glitter pens on all three cards - over the wings and hair and eyes though you really can't see the sparkle in the photos!

I really enjoyed using this card kit and I loved coloring in these images!

I haven't been able to make any cards for the past week since I have been in Southern California visiting my mom. She had a hip replacement this past Monday and is now in a rehab facility getting the therapy she needs to be able to go home. FTL63 - Thanks

FTL63 from the Clean and Simple Stamping blog is an easy sketch and very versatile. You can use patterned paper for the main panel or stamp your background, which is what I chose to do.
I used the flowers from GinaK A Year of Flowers, the leaves from Stampendous Floral Garden and the sentiment from Amuse. I colored the flowers with SU! markers and stamped on PaperTrey Vanilla Cream and matted the panels with PTI Dark Chocolate. The card base is SU! Crushed Curry and the button is from my stash (and a perfect match!).
ETA: The challenge this week on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog is to create a card with a thankful theme. It can either be a Thanksgiving card or a thank you card.

Flutter By Wednesday

Wednesdays are Flutter By Wednesdays on Danni's blog: Danni's Dreams. I have been on Danni's team for about 2 months now and really enjoy making cards for the weekly challenges. Each week we make a card with a butterfly or fairy and then whatever theme is chosen. This week we are to create a scene and cannot use any patterned paper. If you'd like to play along, just post a link to your card on Mr Linky on Danni's blog. We'd love to have you play along with us!

I stamped an image from the SU! set Summer By the Sea in Smokey Shadow ink onto watercolor paper. I used SU! markers and Watercolor pencils and an aquabrush to color the image and scene. I cut out the image and the scalloped mat with my oval Nestabilities. For the background, I stamped the lighthouse and buildings from the GinaK set Guiding Light in Smokey Shadow. I decided not to color them in but colored in the sky and grass. Of course I added a butterfly that I punched from the purple cardstock and vellum cardstock with a MS punch. I used a glue dot to attach the vellum butterfly to the purple one, then added pearls.

FS128: Thanks So Much!

I try to do the challenges on SCS on a regular basis. SCS is where I learned most of what I know about stamping, paper crafting, etc. It is an awesome site! This card was created for the Featured Stamper (FS) challenge that is posted every Sunday. This was a new gallery to me today which I really enjoyed - it is fun to find new (to me) stampers. Anyway, this is the card that I cased:
5th Avenue - isn't it beautiful? I kept the basic layout but didn't have the embossing folder or stamp so I used GinaK's Arranged with Love set. After I stamped it in Versafine Onyx Black on to PaperTrey Stampers Select paper, I cut out about 2/3rds of the image and the large rose above the sentiment. I colored the rose with Copic markers and adhered it to the card with dimensionals. The sentiment is from the same set.
