CAS#30 IT's a Remake

I am sad to say that my time on the SCS CAS DT is over. Boy did the three months go by quickly! I had a lot of fun making the samples for the weekly challenges. I also enjoyed working with Jen, Lisa and Ann! I can't wait to see what the new DT picks for challenges for the next three months and I am already looking forward to playing in them.
So on to my card. The last challenge for the 3 months is a remake. You pick a card that you have made and redo it to make it more CAS. I never liked this card I had done for an SCS sketch challenge. I think it is too busy - too much stuff on it. I wanted to do a one layer card (OLC) with this sketch and I thought if I did it in black and white it would be less busy looking. So that is how I came up with this new card. I used bird and butterfly inchies from 2 Inkadinkado stamp sets to make this. I really like this card much better than the original.

FTL#57 Happy Retirement

I love the colors of fall and I just got some new fall stamp sets from PaperTrey Ink (PTI) along with some patterned paper. This is the Fall to Layout #57 from the Clean and Simple Stamping blog that I contribute to. The card base is Vanilla Cream from PTI. I cut the patterned papers into 1 inch squares and placed them onto the 4.25 inch card base. I stamped a leaf from the Fall Elegance set in Versamagic Pumpkin Pie ink and then stamped the sentiment from PTI Mixed Messages in Versafine Onyx Black on top. I attached that square with a dimensional after distressing the edges with the Pumpkin Pie ink.

Color Swap Card

The recipient should have received this card by now so I am posting it. This was created for a color swap that I participated in wth my Yahoo stamping group. The colors this month were burgundy and gray. I used a stamp set from Our Creative Lounge called Purr-fect Wishes. I think this kitty is so cute! I used the CB snowflake embossing folder for the gray background and a border embossing folder on the bottom of the burgundy image panel. I colored the kitty with Koh-i-nor colored pencils and baby oil and used the SU! burgundy marker to color in the ribbon since I didn't have a burgundy colored pencil. The satin ribbon and button are from PaperTrey.

SCS CAS29 Challenge Card

I can't believe I only have one more week to be on the SCS CAS DT. The three fun months is coming to an end. It was a fun experience and I got to know more of my fellow CAS stampers! This week's challenge was to make a card inspired by a purse or shoes at anthropologie.com. I actually chose the lining of the Dahlia Field purse found here: http://www.anthropologie.com/anthro/catalog/productdetail.jsp?id=943808&parentid=BAGS-WALLETS&pushId=BAGS-WALLETS&popId=SHOESBAGS&sortProperties=&navCount=140&navAction=top&fromCategoryPage=true&selectedProductSize=&selectedProductSize1=&color=060&colorName=RED&isSubcategory=
You have to click on the bottom right picture (of the 3 under the larger picture) of the inside - sorry - I couldn't get the link to work to the opened purse. I liked the lining of the purse - black and white poppies. I included the little green strip and the red scalloped edge to capture the colors outside of the purse that you can see when the purse is opened.
I cased this card from lateblossom for the layout:

It is pretty straight forward so I'll just list the supplies I used.

FBW - Butterfly Quote

Wow another week just flew by and it is time for Flutter By Wednesday with Danni at Danni's Dreams: http://dannisdreamscrafts.blogspot.com/
This week our team member Kim challenged us to use our favorite quote on our card with our butterfly or fairy. I used Taylor's Cupcake Sketch#79: http://tayloredexpressions.blogspot....llenge_21.html
and I used my favorite butterfly quote. The quote stamp is from Impression Obsession and the butterfly image is from Stampendous. I love these fall colors from the Basic Grey Ambrosia pack and of course the butterfly pattern! I attached the cut out butterfly with a dimensional and added some gems for the body.
So if you want to play with us please link up your creation to Mr Linky on Danni's blog!

FS - Natures Silhouettes

The Featured Stamper (FS) challenge on SCS was posted early so I had some time to make a card tonight. This week's FS is Joanne - jojot - and what a spectacular gallery she has! I chose to case her card Natures Silhouettes in Pink. I kept her layout, used the same image and dp for a layer. I changed the colors and added a brad. There are a lot more cards that I 'd like to case if I have some time!

Blog Award

Thank you Liz for awarding me the Kreativ Blogger Award! Liz is also known as lazylizard on SCS and she is always leaving such nice comments on my cards. I notice that we usually post our challenge cards around the same time as well so I feel like we are virtual stamping friends!
To accept the award I had to do a few things:
*Thank the person who nominated me for this award.
*Copy the logo and place it on my blog.
*Link the person who nominated me for this award.
*Name seven things about me that people might find interesting.
*Post links to the seven blogs that I nominate.
*Leave comments of all seven blogs letting them know I nominated them.

Flutter By Wednesay

Well it is Wednesday already and time for another of Danni's Flutter By Wednesday challenges. This is Cassie's week to decide on the challenge and she has asked us to CASE a card from one of our DT members. I chose one of Cassie's cards to case. You can see it here. I love the clean and simple layout and the color combination so I kept them the same. I changed the ribbon (same as Cassies but different colors), used the Spellbinders Label 2 die and used a sentiment from PaperTrey's Mixed Messages set. I kept the butterfly the same as well - punched 2 butterflies with the Martha Stewart punch, glued the bodies together with a glue dot and added some pearls for the body. I changed the embossing on the background as well, with the Argyle folder on the bottom and scored the top part of the card with my Scor-pal.
If you decide to play, you can go to Danni's blog and pick a card of a DT member (listed on the right column) and case it. Please post a link to your card on Mr Linky on Danni's blog so we can all see your creation!

Sihouettes

I made this card for the SCS color challenge for this week. The colors are Taken with Teal, Chocolate Chip and Vanilla. I love this color combination. I sponged Taken with Teal over the entire image panel. Then I stamped the cattails from Verve's Abundant Blessings and the dragonflies from PaperTrey's Pond Life in Chocolate Chip. I sponged a bit of Chocolate Chip at the bottom of the panel. I used a Signo gel pen to highlight the silhouettes. I used the Diamond in the Rough Cuttlebug embossing folder on the card front and attached the image panel with dimensionals.

Thinking of You - Another SCS CAS Challenge

I can't believe how fast the three months of doing the CAS challenge samples has gone! I only have two more weeks left - I have really enjoyed making the samples. This week the challenge is to make a masculine card. Masculine cards are always a challenge for me and I usually rely on patterned paper. I really wanted to make a one layered card or at least an all stamped card. So this one of the cards I came up with. I stamped the tree and bird (one image) with Versafine Onyz Black on PaperTrey's (PTI) Stampers Select paper and stamped it again on some scratch paper and cut that one out to use for a mask. I traced a rectangular Nestability around the image and then put Post It notes around each edge where I traced. I sponged the sky with Memento ink and stamped the grass image from PaperTrey Everyday Button Bits below the tree and bird. I removed the Post It notes and stamped the sentment. I paper pieced the bird using PTI's Bitty Dots Basic patterned paper and painted the tree with SU! markers and an aquabrush. I matted the image with PTI Poppy Red paper and attached that panel to the card front with dimensionals.

CAS FTL#55 Friend

This card was made for the FTL#55 which can be found here.
Other than cutting out the flower, this was a very quick card to make. I wanted the background to be light and airy so I didn't color in the flowers. I also didn't worry about masking the flowers - I like them overlapping like they are. All the products I used are PaperTrey except for the Making Memories brad and the marker I used to color in the flower center on the sentiment panel.

Flutter By Wednesday, Raspberry Suite#14 and SCS241

It's Flutter By Wednesday and this week's challenge is an open one - just include a butterfly or fairy on your card or project. Please link up your card to Mr Linky on Danni's blog so we can all see your creation!
This card came together easily once I decided to combine some challenges. I had originally started a few days ago thinking about Dawn McVey's Raspberry Suite challenge which for me was a very hard combination to work with: plum pudding, raspberry fizz, scarlet jewel and vanilla cream. Never in a million years would I have come up with this combination! Thank goodness for this week's sketch on SCS! When I saw it I knew I wanted to use the Inkadinkado Butterfly image (for Flutter By Wednesday) for one panel and it just went from there. I minimized the amount of scarlet jewel on this card and I actually like this combination! I used the Swiss Dots embossing folder on the plum panel and stamped a bit of the polka dots in Memento Sweet Plum from PTI's Polka Dot Basics on the top image panel. I wanted to play off of the dotted butterfly on the left panel. The sentiment from PTI's Everyday Button Bits was stamped in stamped in raspberry fizz.

CAS Challenge

This week's SCS CAS challenge is to use bling. At first I thought that was an oxymoron - how can it be clean and simple and use bling? Well I do use bling on my cards, but as an accent, not center stage. I interpreted this challenge as focusing on the bling. So that is how this card came about. I purchased this Basic Grey Bling It package at Archivers this summer when I was visiting with my stamping friends in Iowa. I pulled out a lot of stamps that would look okay with the bling but finally came back to one of my new favorite sets - Everyday Button Bits by PaperTrey. I really liked mixing the bling in with the buttons. What I like most about the card is the sentiment - I love being able to curve the acrylic stamps so the sentiments can enhance the image.

SCS Featured Stamper

This week's featured stamper (FS) is Joanne (sleepyinseattle). I am very familiar with Joanne's work - she participates in a lot of challenges and is always there commenting on our cards. She does every style card and 3D project very well and it was really hard to pick a card to case. So I ended up casing two cards! The first card I cased is this one. The colors of her flowers just reminded me of my all time favorite Basic Grey paper Stella Ruby. So I got out my favorite pattern from that paper pack and made this first card. This is a little vintage or shabby for me but I like it. The lace is from Making Memories and I actually crocheted the flower. I used a new Fiskars border punch called Sunburst and nested a few borders. I finished it off with a pearl brad.

The second card that I cased also uses some Basic Grey paper - Scarlet Letter. I didn't want to change too much from Joanne's original card because I love hers and why mess with success? So I kept the layout and the patterned papers and changed the image and sentiment and placed rhinestones on the sentiment panel instead of brads on the background. I colored directly on the butterfly image with SU! markers then stamped it.

Supplies for first card: Paper - PaperTrey CS, Basic Grey Stella Ruby; Misc - MM lace ribbon, crocheted flower, Fiskars border punch
Supplies for second card: Stamps - Inksdinkado; Paper - PaperTrey Stampers Select, Basic Grey Scarlet Letter; Ink - Versafine Onyx Black; Misc - SU! Markers, MM black rhinestones.

SCS Inspiration Challenge

I participated in the SCS Inspiration challenge today which was to pick a vase from the Bellacor website. I used this vase for my first card. My card base is PaperTrey's (PTI)Stone card stock. I brayered Adirondack Aqua and Sail Boat Blue for the water. I stamped the grasses from PTI's Pond Life and the dragonfly from Lizzie Ann Designs Au Naturale in Smokey Shadow ink. I used the "ripples" from the Pond Life set and stamped them off once before stamping them by the grasses.

I was inspired by this vase for the second card. It didn't really come out like I saw it in my head!! I wanted to dry emboss a rose on vellum to achieve the look of that rose on the vase. I only had an iris stencil so I used that. After the iris was embossed I wanted to color the back of the vellum with a gray Copic marker but the colors I have were too light. So I used BG93 (Green Gray)and colored in the back of the iris. I used my square Nestability to cut out the 3 squares that are under the flower and adhered them on to a piece of Stone card stock. I adhered the flower piece onto the Stone panel with vellum dots. and then the complete panel was adhered to PTI's Linen Vellum card stock.
Supplies for Dragonfly card: Stamps - PaperTrey Pond Life, Lizzie Ann Designs Au Naturale; Ink - Adirondack Aqua, Sail Boat Blue, PaperTrey Smokey Shadow; Paper - PaperTrey Stone
Supplies for Iris card: Paper - PaperTrey Linen Vellum, Paper Adventures vellum, PaperTrey Stampers Select; Misc - Dreamweaver stencil, light box, stylus, BG93 Copic marker, Vellum Dots

CAS26 Challenge

This is the other card I made for this week's SCS CAS challenge - to stitch (real or faux) on your card. I also made this for an alphabet swap I'm in with my awesome Yahoo group - the letter this month is C - C for cross stitching. I used to embroider samplers when I was a kid and I loved doing the cross stitching. So this was a fun card for me to make. I used the SU! mat pack to pierce the holes for the cross stitches and then scored on both sides to make a border. I thought the stamps from the PaperTrey's Quilters Sampler were perfect to go with the stitching.

Flutter By Wednesday - Butterfly Project

It's Wednesday and today is the day I set the challenge for Danni's Flutter By Wednesday! I saw the Butterfly Project on Craft Critique and thought this would be a great challenge! I hope you decide to participate - the information about the project and where to send your butterflies are included in the link I've highlighted. Also, please put a direct link from your project on Mr. Linky on Danni's blog. While you're there don't forget to check out the rest of Danni's team's FBW projects!
I used my Spellbinders Butterfly Nestabilities for all of the butterflies. I only used my scraps to make them as well - yay!! Some were run through the Cuttlebug embossing folders to give them some texture. I hope you enjoy looking at these - I had a lot of fun making them.

Supplies: Stamps - PaperTrey Butterfly Kisses, Guidelines2; Ink - SU! Chocolate Chip; Paper - PaperTrey Ink, Making Memories, Basic Grey, Gina K, Guidelines 2 custom made; Misc - buttons, embroidery thread, half back pearls, Cuttlebug embossing folders, Spellbinders Butterfly Nestabilities

Sew Much Fun

The SCS CAS challenge for this week was to sew on your card - real or faux stitching. I chose to do real stitching but by hand. I stamped the balloon strings from PaperTrey's Everyday Button Bits, then cut it out with a rectangle Nestability. I used the Tim Holtz ruler to pierce holes around the embossed frame. Then I used the whip stitch and embroidery thread to stitch around the image. I sewed the smaller red buttons to the blue buttons and attached them with glue dots. The sentiment is from the same stamp set.
I made another one for the challenge but will leave that for another post since it is a swap card that hasn't been received yet!

Bunches of Thanks

This card was made for last week's SCS sketch challenge. I thought it was a great sketch and a CAS one at that. I have been wanting to use my Flopsey stamp for quite a while and it fit perfectly with this sketch turned vertically. I like his ears out of the box. The patterned paper is from Cosmo Cricket Honey Pie. I used Koh-i-nor colored pencils, baby oil and blending stumps to color the image. I added some Amuse Twinkler stickers in the middle of the flowers.
