FTL#66 Welcome Home

This is the card I made for this week's FTL#66 on the Clean and Simple Stamping blog. I just love Natasha's sketches! When I saw the long rectangular panel I immediately thought of the house from PTI's Boards and Beams (B&B) and B&B Holiday Addition. I haven't used these sets in so long - it felt good to get them out again! I used some new Cuttlebug Border embossing folders for the horizontal panels instead of paper. I like the clean look that gives the card. Gotta love the white space!!
Thanks for coming by!
Supplies: Stamps - PaperTrey Boards and Beams, Boards and Beams Holiday Addition; Ink - Memento Rich Cocoa; Paper - PaperTrey Stampers Select; Misc - Cuttlebug Border embossing folders, Nestabilities, Copic markers, SU! markers, Scor-pal, SU! Dimensionals

Purple Butterflies and Mercy's Tuesday Sketch

Today's SCS WT242 (Ways to Use it Challenge) was to use purple. That was easy for me - I love purple. I decided to use Mercy's Tuesday sketch MTSC45, use my favorite purple paper - Wisteria by Basic Grey and butterflies! This was very fast and fun to make. I made the butterflies with a MS punch and 2 Spellbinder die from Winged Things set. The only stamping is the circle of script under the butterflies.

Thanks for coming by!

Supplies: Stamps - Hampton Art; Ink - Memento; Paper - PaperTrey Stampers Select, Basic Grey Wisteria; Misc - Nestabilities, Spellbinder butterfly die, MS butterfly punch, Fiskars border punch, hal back pearls, SU! Dimensionals

Happy Halloween! It's FBW!!

Wow it's Wednesday already which means it's Flutter By Wednesday. This week is an open week again - just include a butterfly or fairy on your project - no other requirements. I hope you play along and if you do, please link your card to Mr Linky on Danni's blog. While you're there check out the creations that the other FBW DT members made (they are listed on Danni's side bar).

I used this week's sketch challenge on SCS - SC252. I love the House Mouse butterfly! I stamped the image with PaperTrey (PTI) Smokey Shadow ink and colored it in with Koh-i-noor colored pencils and baby oil. The sentiment and the candy corn border are from a Studio G $1 set. I cut out the image with a Nestability and sponged PTI Smokey Shadow on the panel before matting with black paper. The base card is from DCWV and the patterned paper is Ambrosia from Basic Grey.

Thanks for coming by!

Supplies: Stamps - House Mouse, Studio G; Ink - PaperTrey Smokey Shadow, Versafine Onyx Black; Paper - DCWV, PaperTrey Stampers Select, Basic Grey; Misc - Nestabilities, Koh-i-noor pencils, Baby Oil, sponge, SU! Dimensionals

SCS CAS38 A Card and A Gift Tag/Card

This week's CAS38 challenge on SCS is to use brads or eyelets. The first card uses two PaperTrey sets from last year: Rustic Branches and Take A Bough. I used red and silver brads for the berries.
I used a Cuttlebug Border embossing folder along the side for some texture. One more holiday card completed!

I have a lot of cool brads and I want to use them up! I made a little tag/gift card (3" sq) using this cute cherries brad. I used PaperTrey Polka Dot Basics and Everyday Button Bits for the sentiment and finished it off with a gingham ribbon.
Thanks for coming by!

FTL#65 - Autumn Blessings

It's time for another Fall to Layout (FTL) from Natasha on the Clean and Simple Stamping Blog. I love doing samples for her sketches. Click here to see FTL65. I really enjoyed stamping my own background today. I used the leaf images from PaperTrey's (PTI) Fall Elegance and the sentiment is from PTI's Autumn Abundance. I have a set of Cuttlebug leaf die and the maple leaf looks so similar to the stamped image. I cut one out of PTI Scarlet Jewel paper and mounted it on Dimensionals next to the sentiment. I used the Cuttlebug Divine Swirls embossing folder which I think makes it look like the leaves are being blown in the wind.
Thanks for coming by!

Supplies: Stamps - PaperTrey; Ink - PaperTrey Orange Zest, Scarlet Jewel, Summer Sunrise, Memento Rich Cocoa; Paper - PaperTrey Vintage Cream, Summer Sunrise, Scarlet Jewel; Misc - Cuttlebug leaf die, Cuttlebug embossing folder, Spellbinders tag die, EK Success border punch, SU! Dimensionals

CAS Sympathy Cards

This week's SCS CAS challenge was to make a sympathy card. I used a layout that I had used for graduation and birthday cards and made two sympathy cards. For this first card I stamped the leaves from Petal Prints in Mellow Moss twice without reinking in between. I stamped the sentiment from Paper Inspirations in Mellow Moss also. I then embossed the side of the card with the Cuttlebug Textile embossing folder and scored two lines with my Scor-pal for a border. I added a pearl to the crocheted butterfly from Paper Blooms and attached it with a Mini Pop Dot.

This next card is using the same layout. I colored the Penny Black Blush flower with Lovely Lilac and Mellow Moss SU! markers and stamped it directly on the card and then over stamped the sympathy sentiment from Paper Inspirations in Versafine Onyx Black and embossed it with clear embossing powder. I used the Swiss Dots embossing folder and scored the two lines for a border.

Thanks for coming by!

Supplies: Card#1 - Stamps - SU! Petal Prints, Paper Inspirations; Ink - SU! Mellow Moss; Paper - PaperTrey; Misc - Crocheted butterfly, half back pearl, Textile Embossing folder, Scor-pal; Card#2 - Stamps - Penny Black, Paper Inspirations; Ink - Versafine Onyx Black; Paper - PaperTrey; Misc - SU! markers, clear embossing powder, Scor-pal, Swiss Dots embossing folder.

Featured Stamper DancerRiley

This week, DancerRiley was the Featured Stamper (FS) on SCS. Riley has a great gallery - check it out here. I chose her Funky Trees to case. I kept the basic layout and changed the tree images, the colors and papers.
The papers are from Memory Box and the trees are from Unity - Giggle Trees. I only stamped the 3 middle images of the stamp and paper pieced two and used dew drops on the center one.
Thanks for coming by!

Supplies: Stamps - Unity; Paper - PaperTrey Vintage Cream, Ripe Avacado, Memory Box; Ink - Memento Rich Cocoa; Misc - Nestabilities, Dew Drops, Brad

Another Reverse Masking Experiment

The Ways to Use It challenge on SCS yesterday was to use autumn leaves on your project. I wanted to do another reversed mask design like the butterfly one I made earlier this week. I only had a small leaf die so I cut a leaf out, used the negative leaf to sponge the first leaf. Then I used the positive die cut to mask the sponged leaf and the negative leaf to sponge two more leaves. I then stamped the silhouettes using the negative mask and moving it around to complete the scene. I highlighted the images with a white gel pen. I used a Label 2 die to cut and mat the image. The background was embossed with the Cuttlebug Diamonds in the Rough folder.

Thanks for coming by!

Supplies: Stamps - Verve, PaperTrey; Paper - PaperTrey Stampers Select Vintage Cream; Ink - Marvy Dye ink, SU! Chocolate Chip; Misc - Spellbinders Label 2, Cuttlebug Leaf die, Cuttlebug embossing folder, white gel pen

Flutter By Wednesday

I have two cards today for Flutter By Wednesday (FBW). This month all the FBW are open challenges - no extra requirements - just have a butterfly or fairy on your project. So link your card up to Mr Linky on Danni's blog and while you're there take a look at the other FBW DT member's creations (links to their blogs are on Danni's sidebar) - they are always awesome!

The first card was made for the SCS Color Challenge which was Bermuda Bay (Taken with Teal), Apricot Appeal and Chocolate Chip. I used the reverse masking technique with a Cuttlebug Butterfly die cut reverse image. I sponged the Apricot Appeal and the Taken with Teal inside the mask, then stamped the silhouette images inside in Chocolate Chip. This card is 4.25" square.

The second card was made using this week's SCS sketch challenge. No stamping on this one! The patterned paper is from the DCWV Nana's Nursey stack and the card stock is PaperTrey Vintage Cream. I used the Fiskars Sunburst border punch and the Martha Stewart butterfly punch. The buttons are PaperTrey Vintage Cream and are attached with glue dots. Each square is popped up with Mini Pop Dots.

Thanks for coming by!

Supplies: Card #1 Stamps - Verve Abundant Blessings, PaperTrey Pond Life; Ink - SU! Apricot Appeal, Taken with Teal, Chocolate Chip; Paper - PaperTrey Stampers Select; Misc - sponge, Cuttlebug Butterfly die reverse image mask; Card #2 Paper - DCWV Nana's Nursery stack, PaperTrey Vintage Cream; Misc - PaperTrey Vintage Cream buttons, Martha Stewart Butterfly punch, Fiskars Sunburst border punch, glue dots, Mini Pop Dots.

Thumped Daisies

Today's SCS CAS challenge was to use the technique called Thumping. I also made this card for an online class I am in (Great Card Design with Julie Ebersole). This is a one layer card and is 4.25" square. I used my SU! Barely Banana and Old Olive markers on the flowers, then thumped the Summer Sun marker over the Barely Banana. I love the crocheted butterflies and had to use one here - it helped me to figure out how to get a sentiment on here without looking unbalanced. I curved the sentiment from PaperTrey Everyday Button Bits so it would look like the butterfly trail.
Thanks for coming by!
Supplies: Stamps - SU! Upsy Daisy, PaperTrey Everyday Button Bits; Paper - PaperTrey Stampers Select; Misc - SU! markers, crocheted butterfly, half backed pearl, Mini Pop Dot

You're On My Mind

I made this card for the Featured Stamper on SCS - the FBW's very own Chris (aka glowbug). Check out her gallery here. She has amazing creations in there! I chose this card to case. When I was in Iowa stamping with my BSF's I brayered this background and stamped the grass from Inspired By Nature. Since I don't have that set I used my Penny Black Blush image. I colored the image with SU! Summer Sun and Old Olive markers and stamped it on PaperTrey Stampers Select. I stamped the sentiment from Upsy Daisy in Versafine Onyx Black. I used a Cuttlebug butterfly die with DCWV olive paper and then embossed it with one of the embossing folders from the butterfly set. I finished it off with some half backed pearls and an olive ribbon from American Crafts.
Thanks for coming by!
Supplies: Stamps - Inspired By Nature, Upsy Daisy, Penny Black Blush; Ink - SU! Summer Sun, Pumpkin Pie, Versafine Onyx Black; Paper - Bazzil, PaperTrey Stampers Select, DCWV, unknown black cardstock; Misc - Cuttlebug butterfly die and embossing folder, half back pearls, ribbon, Mini Pop Dots

FTL63 - Thanks

FTL63 from the Clean and Simple Stamping blog is an easy sketch and very versatile. You can use patterned paper for the main panel or stamp your background, which is what I chose to do.
I used the flowers from GinaK A Year of Flowers, the leaves from Stampendous Floral Garden and the sentiment from Amuse. I colored the flowers with SU! markers and stamped on PaperTrey Vanilla Cream and matted the panels with PTI Dark Chocolate. The card base is SU! Crushed Curry and the button is from my stash (and a perfect match!).
ETA: The challenge this week on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog is to create a card with a thankful theme. It can either be a Thanksgiving card or a thank you card.
Thanks for coming by!
Supplies: Stamps - GinaK, Stampendous, Amuse; Ink - SU! Old Olive, Chocolate Chip; Paper - SU! Crushed Curry, PaperTrey Dark Chocolate, Vanilla Cream; Misc - SU! Crushed Curry and Choclate Chip markers, button.

Flutter By Wednesday Friend

Today is Flutter By Wednesday and each Wednesday this month we will be creating cards with butterflies or fairies and no other requirements! So I hope you play along and if you do, please link up your card to Mr Linky on Danni's blog so we all can see!
I used the SCS color challenge from Tuesday and today's SCS sketch to make this card. The colors are mellow moss, kraft and white. The sentiment is a Hero Arts stamp and the background is from PaperTrey's With Sympathy set. I used a Cuttlebug Border embossing folder for the horizontal panel. The crocheted butterfly is from Paper Blooms.

E is for EEK!

I rarely make Halloween cards but I needed a card for an alphabet swap for the letter E. I had a $1 acrylic set from Michaels that was perfect for this. I used the SCS sketch challenge from last week. I used left over patterned paper scraps and don't know where it was from. The buttons are from PaperTrey.
Thanks for coming by!

CAS35 Inspiration Challenge

I love the CAS challenges on SCS - I stalk the challenge thread and gallery every Sunday night waiting for the challenge to be posted. This week the challenge was an inspiration challenge - the pillows from Cost Plus World Market. This card was inspired by these pillows. I used my Kitchen Sink Stamps and many different inks to make create the roses. The card is 4.25" square. I actually made a long panel and cut a 4" square from it for the main image panel so it is layered on top of a white card base. It felt good to get out this set and use it again!
Thanks for coming by!

Supplies: Stamps - Kitchen Sink Stamps; Paper - PaperTrey Stampers Select; Ink - SU! Certainly Celery, Memento Pear Tart, Bamboo Leaves (leaves), Memento Dandelion, Cantaloupe, PaperTrey Summer Sunrise (yellow roses), PaperTrey Sweet Blush, Memento Rose Red, Lady Bug, SU! Real Red (red roses)
